Chapter 27: I Need You

Lia's Pov

Once we got back to the house, they immediately wanted me to start packing. I had other plans though. I was gonna pack my stuff and his things and pretend like I had forgotten something. Then, I was gonna jump out the window and go help Ryder kill him. Plus, I needed to make sure Ellis was safe.

We texted some of the night but I hardly got to see him. I caught a glimpse of him and so did Ryder. I had to push Ryder and make it seem like an accident so that way he wouldn't see Ellis.

This was a dumb plan, yes I knew. But I needed this to work. Otherwise, I had to go home without him. I couldn't do that.

I changed into some jeans and a white jacket with a gray hoodie and colorful strips across the chest area. I put on my converse and I put my dress back into the bag it came in. I didn't know whether or not to keep it so I just gave it to the drivers and let them decide. Once I was done packing my stuff and Ryder's, I gave it to them. I then saw Xioe, Josh and Jade get out of the car. Xioe ran to me and hugged me. She asked me if I was ok and I told her yes. Josh and Jade did the same thing. I asked Jade if Ryder would be ok but she just told me not to worry about it.

They made their way upstairs and started packing. Once they were done packing, I pretended like I had forgotten something. I lied and said that I left a necklace that I got from my nonna even though I knew exactly where it was. It was in the top drawer of our dorm room. I would never come all the way here with that necklace, let alone anywhere. I don't trust myself enough with that.

I ran upstairs and started to pretend like I was searching for it. I made sure to close the door and when I was ready, I opened the window and jumped. It wasn't a big jump considering I mostly climbed down but I did get down. I made sure to turn my phone's location off and made sure no one saw me leave. I texted Ellis and asked if he was ok.

Ellis:

Yeah, I'm ok. I'm still stuck though. I could use some help.

Lia:

Don't worry, I'm on my way right now.

Before I could check to see his response, I put my phone in my back pocket and started walking. I knew where I was going. I was going to get a car. Just for the night because I didn't wanna walk the whole way there.

Once I got to the nearest gas station, I asked some lady to borrow her car. She told me that it wasn't her car and that it was a rental. She said that I could only borrow it if I was gonna pay it off for her. I told her I would and she gave me the keys. First, I had to drop her off and then I headed straight for the ball again.

When I got there, I pulled around to the back. I made sure nobody could see me and nobody could hear the car. Then, my phone started going off with calls from Jade, Josh, Xioe and...Ryder. He was alive. He was ok. That's all that mattered. I checked my phone again to see text messages from Xioe. One stuck out to me.

Xioe:

You would never leave the house with that necklace. That necklace is too precious to you. So answer the phone and tell us where you are.

Shit. I forgot that I told Xioe that. That's why Ryder was calling. He wasn't calling to say goodbye or to say he was on his way or that he loved me. He was calling to ask where the hell I was.

I turned my phone off and started walking towards the back door. I got to the door when I felt someone grab my arm. I turned around and punched them in the face. Then I realized who it was.

"Oh my God, I am so sorry Ellis. I didn't know that was you."

He rubbed his head and I helped him up.
