Ryder's Pov
I woke up in pain. My body felt on fire. I looked around the room to see it was dark and only had one light. I tried to get free from whatever was holding me but realized it had a strong grip on me. I couldn't move. I couldn't scream because there was tape over my mouth. I could barely even breathe. I was surprised I was even still alive. Most of all though, I can't see Lia. I can't call her or text her or even write her a letter. I can't protect her or hold her or kiss her. I felt useless in here. Utterly useless.
"Don't move. Please, I don't want you to get hurt anymore than you already have." a voice said.
I turned to look in the direction of the voice and found nothing. I heard footsteps and then saw a shadow.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"Please don't kill me." a woman's voice begged.
I knew that voice. I've heard that voice but I just can't think of it.
"Just come out and we can renegotiate things." I said.
"Just promise me you won't kill me." she pleaded.
"I promise."
I watched as the voice stepped out of the shadows and into the light. My eyes grew wide as I saw the person before me.
"Lola?" I asked.
"I'm so sorry. He made me do this." she said.
"Who made you do this?" I asked, trying to get free.
"I can't say. Just please don't kill me." she begged as tears fell from her eyes.
"Lola, I won't kill you. I just need you to tell me who is doing this and what the hell is going on." I said which only caused her to cry more.
I sighed and tried to yank free from the chair but it was no use. It was like poison was slowly seeping into my skin. I could feel every ounce of it coursing through my veins. I could feel my heart slowing down at the second and all I could think about was Lia. I needed her. Oh God how much I needed her. But for right now I'm stuck with Lola.
"Lola, hun. I need you to grab a phone and call my girlfriend, please. I need you to call my sister and my best friends. I need you to call my brother and my girlfriend's cousin. I need you to call somebody and to get me the hell out of here." I said and she tried to contain her breathing.
"You don't understand. He'll kill me if I let you go." she cried out.
"And so will lots of other people if you let me die here today before I get to see my girlfriend." I said.
She cried more and I knew that I had to at least try and calm her down. I looked around the room and saw a table near the door. I sighed and looked down at a still crying Lola.
"Lola, I need you to untie me. Please. Lola. Please." I begged her.
"I-I can't. Please don't make me." she cried.
"Lola, you don't understand! I'm trying to help you! But if you don't let me out of here then you'll be as good as dead!" I yelled and she flinched.
I sighed and tilted my head back and then back down at her.
"I promise, Lola, if you let me out of here I won't let anything happen to you. You will be under my protect and I won't let any of them hurt you just as long as you get me out of here." I whispered to her.
She looked up at me and wiped her eyes, "You promise?"
I nodded at her and she stood up. She started to untie me and when she was done, I could tell her mind was still roaming places. She was scared and I could tell by the look on her face. I grabbed her wrist and pulled her out with me. My body still felt weak but it didn't matter because I only had one mission. Go home to Lia. No matter what it takes.
