Author's Notes:
I'm not going to talk about the crazy that is Instagram. Stay strong everyone!
I actually struggled writing "the Runaway" until I realized that it was the music that kept throwing me off. I put Spotify on shuffle, and Wen Ke Xing chose "Love me like you do" with Ellie Golding as the song he wanted playing whilst he told me his story.
I hope you enjoy this chapter ❤

One night, just a few weeks after that, Zhou Zi Shu had shoulder bumped him when they were walking towards the trail up the mountain side and said, "Ah-Xing, let's take a different way up." He had turned his face to look at Wen Ke Xing in silence for a moment, biting his bottom lip, before continuing, "The moon is beautiful tonight." (1)
Wen Ke Xing had looked up at the sky that wasn't even dark yet, the moon nowhere to be seen, but by the time he looked back, Zhou Zi Shu had been several meter ahead of him. They had walked up half of the normal trail before Zhou Zi Shu had turned left and headed up a narrower path. Wen Ke Xing had been forced to walk behind him, not able to stare at anything but that ass that was bobbing right in front of his eyes.
He had been so lost in his confused thoughts, that he hadn't noticed that the ass had stopped and he walked right into Zhou Zi Shu, who yelped and grabbed on to him. They were right at the edge of a cliff with a view of the entire orchard below. And—they were just in time for the sunset. Those confused thoughts had grown even more confusing from holding Zhou Zi Shu in his arms—just a little bit too long. He had not been able to hold himself from breathing in that sweet and spicy scent that was now a full on assault on all his senses. He had looked down at the boy in his arms and, for the first time, noticed that he had grown and he as now taller than Zhou Zi Shu.
They had sat down on the edge with their feet dangling, in silence. Even though the ledge was wide enough for at least ten people, they sat glued together, as if they had merged into one body with eight limbs and two heads. His heart was beating so fast but he could not figure out why. Every time Zhou Zi Shu moved, either his leg or arm would rub up against him, it sent all sorts of feelings through his body. Feelings that he had never felt before and had no clue what they even were.
When the sun had set and the cold and silver shimmers from the imminent moonrise had started to sparkle across the sky, Zhou Zi Shu had taken his hand and interlaced their fingers. His hand had been so soft and warm. He had felt so safe and happy. He had felt the need to hold on to that hand, for the rest of his life. There were no words, there were no looks. They had just sat there and held hands until the moon reached its culmination time (2).
Zhou Zi Shu had, again, turned towards Wen Ke Xing and waited until their eyes met. He had smiled that radiating smile, and simply said, "The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?"
Wen Ke Xing had looked at this beautiful boy with his hair moving around his face in the wind. This beautiful boy whose eyes had been almost black under the moonlight. This boy who had that smile that always made him stutter. His mind was so puzzled that all he had been able to do was nod. Zhou Zi Shu had tilted his head and then turned back to stare up into the night. Wen Ke Xing had felt like he had somehow missed something but kept holding on to that warm hand.

As they approached one year, Zhou Zi Shu had decided that they needed to commemorate the day that Wen Ke Xing had stumbled into their orchard and that storage building. And his plan had been to drag Wen Ke Xing to the market in town.
