Author's Notes:

I had some setbacks in my recovery and are on a few more weeks of medical leave. Thank you for all the well wishes you sent me and for waiting patiently for my overdue update. It may a bit irregular with updates because of my recovery, but I will try my best.

After a few easy breezy chapters with lots of hot and amazing sex, the tide is shifting a bit. Hold on to your hats, wet socks and ice cream tubs (and maybe some tissues), because for the coming chapters it is time for a bit of realness in the story.

As always, drop me a comment if you like it. Your love keeps me motivated to write.

Side note - I actually write longer chapters. I have decided to stop naming each when I chop them up on Wattpad - you'll just have to live with that!

They both knew that there were questions to be asked and words to be spoken after what had transpired during the morning. However, they stayed in each other's embrace for a long while−in silence. Just Wen Ke Xing slowly caressing Zhou Zi Shu's silky waist as Zhou Zi Shu snuggled in the nape of his neck, sometimes leaving a little peck in the slope between his collarbones.

A small part of Zhou Zi Shu is wondering why Wen Ke Xing hasn't followed up his statement with any questions and actually ask him why he had come to Ghost Valley. Risking his own life at that, by himself, without any help or backup. However, when those cold lips remained silent, dusted with a subtle smile, he figured that Wen Ke Xing was waiting for him to tell his story. It softened his heart even more, even though that longing ache was always there, reminding him. Hoping.

Wen Ke Xing wasn't holding back because he was scared. There really was no point in holding back anymore, not at this point, not for him at least. It was the fact that he didn't know if Zhou Zi Shu wanted to tell him why he had come. Wanted to open up and trust him. Or if he even wanted to know why Wen Ke Xing had let him stay and not killed him at first sight.

It was true though, back then, he had really just been curious about the famous leader of Window of Heaven−one of the top martial arts masters in the world outside Ghost Valley. The man he had watched every day, starting from when Zhou Zi Shu had been captured up until their wedding day. The man that had never begged, screamed or cursed. The man that had never uttered a single sound apart from his steady breathing under the barbed wired chains in the prison cages. The man that was obviously calmly waiting for something.

With a deep and content sigh, Wen Ke Xing kisses the top of Zhou Zi Shu's head and breaks the silence, "Ah-Xu, it really was fate that brought you to me."

Tracing and nudging the underside of Wen Ke Xing's jaw with his nose, Zhou Zi Shu hums, "Hmm...?"

Enjoying the warmth spreading through his core, Wen Ke Xing decides to take the first step towards opening up, continuing, "I never told you why I wanted to get married, did I?"

Zhou Zi Shu stiffens, instantly back in restraints on the wedding bed, "No, I guess I just assumed... I mean... What you did..." His voice trailing off remembering those first wedding nights. The pain. The helplessness. But mostly, he remembers his tears waking up alone with the uncertainty of when the man would return. I never would have left even if I had the chance, not before I knew if you really were him or not.

Wen Ke Xing's mind is screaming, wanting to stuff the words back into his mouth so that he could re-phrase them as a statement and not a question. "Ah-Xu..." Wen Ke Xing's voice is pained and ashamed. "Ah-Xu, I didn't mean... I mean, I did mean, but..."
