"What did you do?"
I ask feigning excitement as I walk around the large space that is to become our living room.

I walk along the wooden floors already picturing the finished look. It truly is a magnificent sight.

"Did you buy it?"
He nods then makes his way closer to me. He kisses me on the lips and then takes my hand to lead me on a tour of the rest of the enormous house.

If I haven't been entirely clear before, I don't care for wealth and anything that associates with it. Not before and certainly not now.

Sure, at a certain point in my life I'd been accustomed to a certain way of living, but that was hardly my fault. We don't choose where we come from or how we're raised.

"Do you like it?"
I like that he likes it for us.

So,

"Yeah. It's beautiful."
I finally say to him.

It's grand and unnecessary. We currently live in a two-bedroom but hardly use the second one. What are we going to do with a five-bedroom?

I don't ask him that.

He looks so proud and the last thing I want to do is rain on his parade.

"Can we afford this?"
I decide to ask instead.

Like I said, it's a big house. And for a while, our lives were about asking this question. The answer was usually no, but we didn't care. We were happy.

"Yeah, you know with the promotion and all. I wanted to do this for you."
He says and I release a smile.

My husband is the only person who can upset me and excite me in mere seconds.

Oh and did I forget to mention the promotion? I'm actually proud of him for that one. Even though dad got him in, he worked his way to the top. As I'd expected. The man is a hard worker.

Not to mention he's done with his B.com and he's now ventured into Chartered Accountancy. He's in a professional body and all. This is of course what got him the promotion. My husband is kicking all kinds of asses.

I'm getting prouder and prouder seeing him in his field. He's managed to maintain a great respect in the accounting industry in such a short amount of time. That's simply owed to his well-mannered approach on things. He respects every single person too, from the janitors to the CEO himself.

I take a moment to look at the magnificent house we're currently in.

It's stunning, it truly is.

It's got a modern feel to it. And the futuristic features compliment it so wonderfully.

But lovely as the house is, my husband can't seem to understand that the way to my heart is not through unnecessarily expensive tangibles. I would've thought he of all people knew this.

We could be living in a shack and he would still be the only man my heart craves for. I thought I'd made that very clear to him.

"But you got me a car last week."
A car, a diamond necklace, and a Rolex to be precise. When does it stop? On my side it feels like it's getting grander every time.
