Chapter 21: Cowardice

" I have enjoyed playing this game with you Tokio-san. Yet it's a pity that we can't reach the full potential of this game when you're heart isn't on it. "

" What are you saying? "

" From the start, there was a trace of indecision on your steps and moves. I hope that you would try your best and reach your full potential the next time we would play a game together again. "

Tokio has been woken up from his sleep. He gripped his blankets as the events of what happened a few days before resurfaced in his mind.

It was expected that he would lose the game.

.. He knew it from the start.

But he never thought that he would lose in such away. Tokio regretted a lot of things in that Ouroboros game.

But what made him upset about that game was how his luck was compared to the King of Games.

He have already known that he would lose. But he has foreseen it once he saw the King of Games had moved his monster to the biggest ladder on the board while he was still trapped in that sword of revealing light for 3 turns.

Since the Pharaoh's monster had reached the top of the ladder, Tokio couldn't do anything toward the Pharaoh's monsters on the field. They were out of reach with most of the types of his monsters being level 4 and normal type.

The converted spell cards could do nothing for the Pharaoh without him replenishing his points. All of the reduced points would be regained again with Yami converting some of his spell cards into points.

Once Yami reached the finish line, it should have already ended.

Yet the words that were left by the Pharaoh keep resounding in his mind.

"  The Shadow game reveals a person's true nature. You are indecisive and filled with cowardice. You don't believe in yourself and your cards. You are playing like you expected that you would lose from the start Tokio-san. So you didn't give your best in this game. "

Tokio stared at his reflection in the mirror in his room.

A pair of crimson eyes were filled with tiredness. The green hair was a mess, the expression on his face wasn't better. His pajamas were in disarray.

" You didn't break the rules of the game. So there was no need for punishment. "

Even though he wasn't punished in the Shadow Game, it still lingers in his memories and dreams.

It was like he was being punished but Tokio knows that he was lucky compared to the others that have encountered Yami.

Eventually, he would not be bothered by the words said to him by the Pharaoh. But those words still bother him right now.

Tokio knows that he was a coward.

It was in his nature and instinct.

He was afraid of a lot of things. But what he was afraid of the most was pain and death.

After all, he has experienced it once.

Both of those two extremes.

In this world, where those two things are the most natural thing ever.

Tokio was driven to live in comfort and bliss.

Away from the painful experience and death so that's why he would live in the background not messing with the main characters of this world.

But the arrival of this system put a stop to those plans. It was a curse more than a blessing.

Yet Tokio knows that he still needs an edge in this world. He would still use it despite the unfortunate things that it would bring to him.

He would risk being out of his comfort zone so that he would gain more power and arsenal himself.

He falls into the temptation so he reaped the consequences.

He could have rejected the hidden quest from the start but he didn't.

Sighing, he thought to himself it was over.

He was alive and well and that's what matters.

" Ahh. Fucking damn it! "

Tokio let out a frustrated groan inside his room.

" Tokio mind your Language! "

But he heard his Aunt Shizuko outside of his room. Tokio felt surprised but then the next second his mouth couldn't help but twitch a little.

The complicated frustration disappeared as he heard his Aunt Shizuko's nagging when both of the twins or him started cursing.

" Tokio, It's already morning! Get your lazy ass here right now! You would be late! "

Tokio hurriedly scrambled out of his bed when he heard the reminder.

At least with the game with Yami already gone even if he didn't fulfill all of the requirements, he still got a reward from the system. And he only got 1 favor left because of a misunderstanding and not learning to keep his mouth shut at the start.

After the game, Tokio has fulfilled 3 conditions requirements from the hidden quest.

Tokio got a reward of 25,000 points which was enough to buy him a UR Card of his choice in the Retrieval Panel. He also got 7 UR and 12 SR Cards which made him satisfied.

And finally, there was the reward of a new dueling method.

[ Rush Duel Method

Description:

• Creates a field that allows Rush Dueling ]

Tokio didn't expect that there would be a duel method rewards but it left him falling into contemplation. Thankfully, it wasn't a link, pendulum, XYZ, or synchro summoning method. Having those dueling methods in this Era feels like he was breaking the rules of this world.

Before he died and transmigrated, Tokio watched Yugioh Sevens. It felt different and strange compared to the previous series.

It was a very lighthearted spin-off of the original which made a lot of people not like the show.

It felt boring compared to its predecessors. But Tokio thought that the no seriousness of the series was understandable compared to its predecessors. It was a show intended for kids and the protagonist is also a kid.

Tokio was familiar with the rush duel by watching the series even though he didn't end up watching the finale of the show. But now, he was left wondering what would he even do with Rush Duel.

.. Probably nothing... Tokio doesn't want to be accuse of cheating!

Tokio went to Domino High School that day with thoughts of cheating and rush duel in his mind.
