George's P.O.V

I woke up early before Lauren or Annie were up and I left to head to the Twickenham movie studio where we were going to be writing and rehearsing some new music for a show we are supposed to perform in 2.5 weeks.

No one knows what this show will look like but hopefully by then we will have some sort of idea.

I walked in to see Mal setting up some of our instruments. I brought my favorite guitar and started to tune it. Ringo was next to show up and we chatted about his new baby and the past few months. He was getting ready to star in a movie next month and was telling me all about it.

A little while later John and Yoko arrived and we were pretty much set up.

Glyn and Paul then arrived together and Paul joined in with us as we sat there jamming without any structure.

"Shall we play "Two of Us?" Paul asked us all and I wanted to roll my eyes. We couldn't just jam out and have a good time. Paul needed us to be laser focused and start playing his new song and perfecting it straight away.

"Is this the new song you wrote the other night?" John asked.

"Yeah I played it for the girls, George and Glyn... it's a work in progress but it's something."

We spent the next hour or so getting all the chords right and the singing and before long we overplayed it and knew it well.

I couldn't help but get distracted a little by the camera crews and microphones all around. A part of the big show we'd be doing at the end of this was to have some sort of footage to show as to how we got to the show. It will show our progress from start to finish.

The director for the show was Michael Lindsay Hogg, who I had met once before during the Hey Jude performance last year.

"Do we have to have all these cameras?" I asked Michael as he started positioning them differently.

"Depends, I think it's better to get this from every angle and not miss anything."

"It's candid camera," Glyn said as he sat down beside me, "pretend like it's not there."

I then looked around and stopped my gaze as my eyes reached Yoko sitting across from me next to John just reading a newspaper.

I didn't bring Lauren here to sit next to me while we rehearsed for this show. It was growing frustrating that she has to be sitting here on all of our sessions.

I looked away and played some chords.

"Maybe we should practice and play some of our old songs," Paul then said.

"Some oldies but goldies," I said and then started playing the guitar chords from the song Help! And John started singing.

Pretty soon everyone in the sound stage was excited and jamming. This is what the Beatles always were. We're now a little bit older and more sophisticated in our musical choices but playing this song brought us all back to the good old days.

At the end of the day we felt we were good to regroup the following day and come in with new material and a better direction.

"You going straight home?" Glyn asked me.

"Yeah, I think so. I'm sure Lauren cooked something if you want to stop by," I said to him kind of hoping he would decline so I could spend time alone with my wife.

"Nah man, not today but this weekend for sure," he patted me on the back and then we walked out to our cars together.

"I'm heading out to my house," he said, "I sometimes sleep at my recording studio here in London if I'm really into my work because my house is like 45 minutes north but I'll get up there and then get some affairs in order before coming back tomorrow afternoon."
