George's P.O.V.
I wasn't ready for this wedding..I stood there in my tuxedo with Paul and the priest and we looked out into the sea of people that Paul and Linda invited for their special day.
Many of our producers, other people from the record labels we record under, members of the press, Ringo, Maureen, the list goes on and on. I nodded to most of the guests as they looked at us standing there at the front of the church and then I saw Glyn walk in by himself without his crutches. I was actually relieved and happy that he was okay. It was emotional for everyone thinking that he was so close to losing his life just two months ago.
He locked eyes with me and gave me a sympathetic nod, as Jenna sat down beside him. I figured she was going to be there to keep him company during the ceremony. The press was covering this wedding like Paul and Linda were royalty and so Lauren and I had to pretend to be happily married or we'd steal their spotlight.
I went over to talk to Ringo as we waited for everyone to arrive and settle down. He was sitting with Mal, who I haven't seen in at least a month or so. Last I heard he was back in the states with a woman he met.
"There you are," I said shaking Mal's hand, "its been a while."
"I'm back now and I don't want to talk about it," he looked annoyed. Must not have worked out for him.
"Fine man," I said "just glad you are here... it is like a reunion of everyone that has come and gone over the years."
"...if Cynthia shows up," Ringo joked.
"That's different... you can't show up if you are not invited," Maureen added.
"Speaking of invites, is John really going to miss this?" Mal asked me Ringo and Maureen.
"He doesn't want tonight to be about the Beatles, and Yoko probably just doesn't want to come," Ringo answered.
"I see Jenna is here with Glyn," Maureen said remembering her from years ago.
I looked back over at them and they were laughing about something right before Glyn then got up and walked toward the back of the room and went out the door as Jenna went up to talk to Paul who was pacing at the front of the room.
I smirked at how comfortable she was with him now. Back when we first met her and Lauren she was completely obsessed with the Beatles and almost fainted just in Paul's presence.
"Well since I'm married tonight," I said to them, "Jenna can keep my wife's lover company."
Ringo, Mal and Maureen all rolled their eyes in unison. It was nice having some friends in my corner rather than being so happy for Lauren in "following her heart."
"I was out there with them in LA," Mal said "and Paul and Linda had a big role in encouraging Lauren to be close with Glyn."
Made sense.
"It's okay," I said, "we're almost done with the divorce paperwork and she's leaving with him and Ollie in like a week and then it's out of sight out of mind."
"Your son will be missing you," Maureen said.
"Luckily he's at the age where he still doesn't completely understand. It makes it easier," I shrugged.
I have gotten numb to all of this as of late.
We spoke for ten minutes more or so and then a little while later everyone was in their seats and the music started to play.
Everyone stood up to turn toward the door and see the girls walk in.
First was Heather dropping flowers and walking up toward us and when she got to the end Paul squatted down and gave her a big hug and picked her up as Lauren next walked out carrying a bouquet of flowers. She looked absolutely beautiful and I took a deep breath.
