Lily was sitting around Claire-Ann's living room, along with many more neighborhood mom's who were concerned. Which just included Mrs. Caden , Mrs. Williams, and Mrs. Duffer . Claire-Ann never informed Lily that other people were going to we joining them for their lunch . Never the less, neighborhood moms. Lily felt out of place from the middle aged women, she sat furthest away form them on a stiff black armchair. Sipping quietly on her tea as the women talked amongst themselves. Lily would also snagged tiny treats that were displayed neatly on the coffee table.
Claire-Ann had actually looked nice that day, she had pampered herself early that morning . She wore nice pristine white blouse and well-fit dark blue jeans paired with newly bought white kitten heels, her makeup and hair were done just like how she use to do it before she fell into her frantic depression . Claire-Ann hadn't really been outside her house since her daughter's disappearance , so this three mothers that accompanied her, never noticed a change in Claire-Ann. Maybe a slight differences in her posture and attitude. But nothing that made Claire-Ann a let- down.
Lily hadn't said or done much, once or twice Lily had made more tea and gotten more snacks for them. It was only when Lily's opinion really matter is when she talked, like how Xandra and her were close. Lily guessed they only really kept her around becuase how much she could help with learning where Xandra may had gone. Claire-Ann was going take Lily to the sheriff. Though they didn't have to, the sheriff was planning on stopping by Lily's house to question her about Xandra's disappearance , shortly after learning that Lily was one of Xandra's close friends .
The sheriff had attempted to call the Huggins household, but doubted it . The last time he had tried to call the household , no one picked up the phone; Belch Henry and Victor had been held in custody for vandalism of property and trespassing , No charges were pressed but that didnt mean they weren't to big trouble .
As expected no one had answered, he would have to get up from his desk and actually drive over to the Huggins' household. It didn't sound like much to do, but he was tired and worn-out. He swore his head were to explode if Mrs. Quinn gave him another frantic worried phone call or a yelling session about her daughter .
Lily had brought over the dress Xandra let her borrow the night of the party, she had washed it and everything . When she had walked into Xandra's bedroom, it felt wrong to be in there. It was quite and the room was tidy, mostly from her mother cleaning it up . No music playing, Nothing. Just quiet , Lily had hated how quiet it was in Xandra's room. it was unnatural .
As much as Lily hated to admit it, but she wanted to leave. She thought coming over and talking with Claire-Ann was a great idea. But no , listening to this small group of concerned women made her just want to do everything but be there. Lily had thought about lying to Claire-Ann so she could just leave, but she doubted she would be believable . SO she went with what came up on the top of her mind
" Claire . . . i don't feel good, i should probably go home" Lily said, her lips frowning as looked down to the floor to avoid any eye contact.
" ohh, sweety that's ok. Do you need me to drive you home" Claire-Ann spoke in a soft voice, leaning over to placed a hand on Lily's shoulder
"No it's ok, you stay here. I'm sure you'll need to get lots done. I'll call you when i get come , ok?"
"Sure thing , darling . "
Lily got up , grabbed her bag an walked towards the front door, she was halfway through the door when she heard the ladies talk amongst themselves once again.
" Poor girl, must be hard for her. Heard she doesn't have much friends. I bet it's becuase of that no-good brother of hers" Mrs. Duffer spoke , trying to keep her voice low but audible enough for the women to hear her. Lily closed Claire-Ann's front door and sighed in distress.
No-good brother.
That stuck in her mind, she was only really known not becuase she was pretty or smart or overly kind. It was becuase of her no-good brother. She had walked home , wheeling her bike beside her. Lily had been tired lately, no matter what she did, she was tired. Even if she had slept over eight hours of sleep , she still find herself yawning and laying back down to sleep.
Even when she was tired and rested her head back down to sleep. She never did fall back asleep, it frustrated her . So instead she would just lay around in bed until she would fall asleep or she would just get up and out of her bed and do something productive.
That's all Lily wanted to do as she walked back to her house . To just be back in her bed ,her comfortable welcoming bed.
Lily neared home and couldn't help but smile. Only a few more steps . Belch's car was in the driveway . Good maybe he cold make me something to eat . . . or order me something to eat.
she placed her bike by the side of the house and made her routine walk to the front door. The door knob easily twisted , unlocked. Belch really needed to learn to lock the door, even if he was home . Henry , Victor and Belch were sprawled out in the living room. The television was blasting and beer cans were littered on the coffee table.
Jesus it's barley past 4
She walked passed them ignoring their banter. She grabbed a drinking glass and filled it with some cold water. She gulped down the water , relishing the relaxing feeling of the cold water sliding down her throat . She brought down the now empty glass , the contact making a clinking sound against the counter. She trudged to her room and once she got inside her room , she made sure close the door and she changed out of her clothes and into something more comfortable. She made a short and brief call to Claire-Ann on her safe arrival to her house.
Lily laid bundled in her bed , her eyes resting closed. She welcomely took in the feeling of her bedding and groaned out as she felt herself fully relax for muscles that had been tense all day . she grabbed her romance novel and started reading where she left off.
But she was soon interrupted when her bedroom door opening. God, does anyone knock anymore!
