I poked my head into a room filled with battlefield rings

I poked my head into a room filled with battlefield rings. Jude and Huo were participating in a tag-team match against Mira and Lidia.

Jude tried hard to freeze Mira in place, but the giant of obsidian wouldn't allow herself to be halted by something like huge ice crystals.

Mira... When I hit her, my sound waves revealed the interior of that armor was mostly empty. Her body was like that of those beings my father had told me about, but gaseous rather than viscous liquid. That armor must've been holding her being to this world akin to a spectral soldier. But that would mean that the caster had to be nearby or frighteningly strong. Plus, Mira was too aware to be one.

I jumped as I felt a hand on my back. Turning, I found myself faced with a shining smirk. It was Robert.

"What are you doing, little lady?"

I pouted. Who was he calling little?

He looked at Mira as she dodged a fire blast from Huoyin. "Worried about Mira? Nate said that she would be fine, and she looks like she is."

I lowered my head. Physically, yeah. But Kanja looked pretty demoralized after losing to Nate. Hopefully, my fruit had done the job.

I raised my eyes at him and made signs with my hands. 'Not that I have an issue with it, but are you sure that giving Carter your spot was a good idea? Won't you get in trouble?'

Rob crossed his arms. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. Well, I'll probably get scolded by Dad, and some of the other adults, but that was worth seeing Cart smile."

I hugged him. He was such a good friend! I could only hope to find someone like him.

"H-Hey!" he said, blushing.

I let go of him and giggled. He was so easily flustered.

"Uh, anyway, I better get going. I told Carter that I would get him some gummies. If he wakes up and I'm not there, he might get scared."

I tilted my head. What did he mean by scared? Was Carter afraid to be alone?

My eyes darted toward Nate who was training with the pink-haired girl who had helped with the exams. Adela, I think Ling called her. He was Carter's cabinmate, but with him here, poor Cart had to be lonely.

"It's not that Carter's afraid of being alone. He's a bit out of it is all. The guy confused me with his late mother."

I gasped. Poor guy. He must've missed her a lot.

I nudged him. Carter needed his gummies!

"Well, it was nice talking and signing with you! See you later," Rob said, hurrying off.

I waved.

"You and that guy seem surprisingly close for strangers," a voice called out.

I jumped and turned around. It was my cabinmate, Ling!
