Unfinished Business

I walk through the street, knowing that the boys were probably drunk and couldn't drive, and I honestly just wanted to leave that party. Penelope was a strange character and I really don't know what her intentions are, but I think that through all the shit Michael and I have gotten past, I don't think she could break us apart. I walked down the sidewalk, glancing at the lights in front of the local supermarket. It was probably around 3 a.m, the only place being open is a small McDonalds. If I had known that I would have to walk, I would have worn comfortable shoes.

I was half-way home when a car slowed beside me.

"Get in." Ashton shouted from the drivers seat, motioning with his hand for me to go to the car.

I slid in the black range rover, greeted by a frown.

"Luke's worried sick."

I scoffed, "He wouldn't check the way home? Idiot."

"Madison, you know he just cares about you, right?" Ashton said softly. He was always the one to fix fights and talk things out.

I ignored his statement, "Where's Michael?"

"He stayed back at the party, something about 'unfinished business'. Only I left to look for you," Ash said, pulling me in for a hug, "and I am so glad you're safe."

"Unfinished business? What does that mean?" I asked, my mind running with thoughts. Penelope?

"I think he wanted to say hi to Henry, they haven't seen each other in years."

I sat back in the car, closing my eyes. Whether Michael was talking to his drunk friends or if he was with Penelope, I just hope he knows how I feel.

LUKE'S POV

'She's fine, mate. Found her walking, driving her home now ! x'

Ashton's text eased my nerves, finally locating my sisters whereabouts.

I walked reluctantly over to Michael, "She's fine, not that you care."

Michael was piss drunk, dancing with his friends and other girls. It took everything in me not to pull them away from him, knowing that Madison would say I'm over exaggerating.

"Who's fine?" he slurred, taking a messy swig from his beer.

"Madison."

"Your sister? Dude, I wanna fuck her for hours." he said, slipping down the cupboard in the kitchen.

"Think its time to take you home, before you go too far." I said with gritted teeth, pulling him up from the floor, to be face to face with me.

He chuckled, "Does it bother you? That I fucked your sister?"

My jaw clenched when I pushed him back, guiding him to the car. Somehow he was able to get in and buckle himself up normally.

"You know, Madison really wants you to back off. You're like an annoying mosquito, suckin' the fun out of everything!" Michael giggled, his bottle of jack Daniels in his hand. I reached for the bottle, watching as Michael held it up higher, waving a finger in the air.

I drove home safely, ignoring Michael's stupidity.

I spoke up as Michael's eyes drifted closed, "I don't think you're good for her."

"What do you mean?" he responded.

"I mean you're toxic. She was perfectly fine before you came along."

"Luke, she's happy with me. When will you give this up?" Michael shivered, seeming soberly alert.

We finally pulled up to the house, Madison sitting on the porch drinking a cup of coffee. I looked down at the clock on the dashboard. 5:23am.

"Michael, don't make a fool of yourself," I said, stepping out of the car and quickly walking inside.

Michael never got out of the car, instead he passed out in the passenger seat. Madison never moved, she never tried to help him. She finished her coffee and went inside, not a word leaving her lips. To wonder what had happened hurt my sleep-deprived brain, leaving it be till later.
