MICHAELS POV

"Michael? Michael, wake up." I heard her sweet voice ringing in my ear.

I reached my hand out, hoping to feel her laying next to me. Nothing.

I slowly opened my eyes to see her looking down at me from the side of her childhood bed.

"Hey baby," I smiled up at her, motioning for her to cuddle into me. Her eyes travelled from my eyes to my hand to my face, as if she were thinking about something. She smiled lightly, placing a water bottle and some advil on her nightstand before turning and leaving me alone.

I sat up and gulped down the water, the pills subsiding in my stomach.

Why didn't she speak to me? Other than her calls to wake me, she hadn't said a word.

I got up from the bed, my head pounding. Although hangovers were a bitch, she was more important. Down the stairs, Calum was curled up on the couch, sleeping like a child. I smiled, what a dork.

I travelled down the hallway, Ash and Luke sitting at the table.
"Hey, where's Madison?"

They both looked drowsy, pointing to the back porch to answer me. I began to walk to the door when there was a hand on my bicep.

"I want to talk to her first," Lydia said, smiling at me before pointing to the counter. Lydia had brought all of us coffee, probably knowing that we needed the caffeine.

I took my cup, taking a seat at the table with the boys.
"What are we doing today?" Luke asked, Ash rubbing his forehead, "No alcohol! Please!"

"We could do something outdoors?" I suggested, "Maybe the beach? Or a hike or something?"

Ashton was deep in thought and Luke was too. Both of them looked up at the same time, as if they were telepathically deciding something. "A hike to the lake!" they said in unison, looking at each other in awe.

"I'm down." Madison said from the door. I didn't realize she had come in. "Me too." Calum groaned from the couch, Madison bringing advil and some water to him. Lydia joined us as well, agreeing to the idea. Time to hike! Hopefully it will give me a chance to ask Madison why she was upset too. If she even was upset.

"Cal, can I use some of your sunscreen?" I heard her voice ring through my head as I watched her walk along beside Calum. She had been pretty much ignoring me since we woke up. Did I do something last night? All I know is that it pisses me off that she's talking to him and not me.

"Sure, M," he said, handing her the spray-on sun screen. M? I made that nickname for her... why is he using it?

It was just starting to get warm again, the sun hot on our tails. Madison claimed she didn't tan and that she'd only burn without sunscreen. We are the whitest couple ever. If we even are one anymore. I listened into their hushed conversation.

"You alright with walking all the way there?" he asked her.

"I'll be fine, its just a sprained ankle."

She sprained her ankle? When?

"Well, a piggy back ride is always optional!" they laughed together, her hand caressing his upper arm. I'm just going to convince myself that she's using him for balance.

"I am terrified to swim in the lake," she smiling up at him, "last time I was in there I cut my foot on a broken bottle, and plus I've gained so much weight since the summer, I'm like-"

He cut her off, "Madison, if you say anything bad about your weight, I will throw you over my shoulder myself, you're beautiful."

She hugged him sideways, her cheeks slightly blushed. Is this guy serious?

I finally spoke up, "Madison, can I talk to you for a second?"

She apologized to Calum before stepping back to talk to me. God, I'm not even sure what I was going to say, I just needed her away from Calum.

"Did I do something last night to upset you? You've been ignoring me all morning."

She sighed, "You drank a lot last night, Michael. Last party we went to, you claimed that you didn't drink. I'm not upset with you, you've made no effort to speak to me. I talked to Penelope last night, okay? She explained everything, I understand what you did. I don't like it, but I understand. There's nothing wrong."

She kissed my cheek softly before running back up to Calum, his arm draped over her shoulder. Is everything really fine?

MADISONS POV

I have to admit, for the first time in a while, I was having fun. We had just made it to the stone beach of the lake, Lydia being the first to strip down to her bathing suit and tip toe out into the water. She screeched, "It's so fucking cold!"

I reluctantly removed my shorts, keeping my T-shirt on over top. I went to walk to the water when Calum grabbed my hips. "Nope! This is coming off too!" he laughed, pulling the top from my body. "Fuck you! Fine!" I giggled, basically running to the water but with a sprained ankle. I passed Lydia, who was trying to get used to the water with it up to her knees. I remembered from when I was 7 that there was a drop where it got deep, and so I dove into the water, the cold water refreshing me.

I raised my head up to see all the guys running into the water, Michael sitting and watching. He looked over to me as I raised my hand in a beckoning motion. He stood up, removing his shoes before walking into the water, to where I stood. His T-shirt was still on his torso, covering his past. I held his forehead to mine, my hand on the back in his neck, "Don't be afraid, it's alright to take this off."

He smiled down at me, dunking himself down into the water, "I'm using it so I don't burn," he held my hand, "but thank you."
And it went on like that. A group of friends splashing around in a lake. No complications to ruin the day, at least not now. All it was was pure fun and relaxation. Except for the long-waited talk between me and Michael Clifford, putting it off to a later time. I can't ruin this moment, with all of us together.
