Michael had been gone for 5 and a half weeks, leaving 2 and a half weeks till I see him. I watched all the interviews and called him at least 3 times a week. He was busier that expected so we didn't talk every single day, maybe a text of two but it was only a "good morning" or a "goodnight".
"Madison? Are you up yet?" Lydia called from downstairs. I yelled back, "Yeah, I'm up."
I crawled out of bed, slipping my feet into my ugg boots. I only wore them in the house or going anywhere quick, so they looked brand new.
I walked down the stairs carefully, trying my best not to trip up like I usually do. I skipped to the kitchen, seeing Lydia near the stove. There was music playing from my dad's old record player in the corner, twist and shout by the Beatles. Dad was always away on business which I was okay with, since I didn't see him anyways.
I ran up behind her, hugging her, dancing along to the music with her in my arms. I flicked my head back and forth, my long hair covering my face. For the past month and a half, Lydia had been living with me in my house. She came over one night at 2AM with a few bags, saying hers and Ashton's house was creepy when he wasn't there. She didn't like the house much anyways, saying it was too modern for her liking. My house was too old, with checkerboard floors in the kitchen and a weird stove.
"Living with you is so great." I said, smiling at her as she returned to her pancakes and bacon. "Yeah, other than your hair almost ending up in my pancakes. But it's all I could ask for."
It was almost March, school quickly approaching. I had to be back in New York by the 1st. Shit, why didn't I remember that?! When Michael comes back here I won't even be in the country. Unless...
"Lydia?" I asked, hoping up on the counter. "Yes, I'm making you pancakes." she replied, moving her head to the song playing.
"God bless, but that's not what I was going to ask..." I said nervously.
She looked up anxiously, "What is it then?" she asked.
"How do you feel about me moving back here again? For university, I mean. New Yorks so-" "I'm calling a moving company to get your shit right now." She said, picking up the phone excitedly. New York was never for me. Sure, the school offered lots, but that's all I ever did. I would go to school, go to my dorm, sleep, go to work, sleep and then repeat.
"Where would I live?" I said, more to myself than her. "Not here?" she said quietly, on hold with the company.
"I don't want to live with my parents, ew."
She ended the call, saying something about my stuff being here in a week or two.
Her face lite up, almost as if she had a brilliant idea. "What?" I laughed, her excited face showing through with a goofy smile.
"We can live together! We can get an apartment like how we talked about when we were in high school! Near the university too!" she squealed. The idea excited me but I don't know if it'd work.
"What about Ashton?" I asked, worried about him being alone. "Cal was moving in when they come back, he'll be fine and you'll be with me and I just-" she made a high pitch noise.
"Do we have enough?" I asked, worried about the money situation.
"The university here is cheaper than New York and you'd get money from them for the amount in difference. We both have jobs and fucking hell, our boyfriends are in a world famous band for crying out loud! C'mon Madison, we're the queens of impulsive decisions. Please?" she had her hands together like she was praying, jumping up and down.
"Fine, we'll do it." I said, making her jump up and wrap her legs and arms around me. I have a good feeling about this.

We spent the next week searching for apartments. We had a daily routine. We would wake up early, stop at Starbucks for venti drinks and then we'd get searching. It took six days and 12 different apartments till we found our dream apartment.
We walked in with Sarah, the owner of the building. We were in the centre of downtown Sydney, about 8 minutes away from our old houses. The apartment had white bricks as walls, and light wood floor boards, Making it feel rustic. There was a decent sized living room, a big L shaped brown couch. A big tv was propped on a stand, making it easy for entertaining. We walked through, passing the bathroom with the large tub and beautiful shower. We stepped into the kitchen, a wood counter with matching cupboards. The stove, fridge, dishwasher and sink were all steel, giving a modern touch. A small, two person table was pressed to the wall, without chairs there. I guess we'd get those.
The bedroom was my favourite, mainly because it wasn't even a room. Above what looked like a mini office (A desk, a lamp, you know, officey things), was a loft. We climbed up the ladder, to view two white queen sized beds, about 2 metres between them. There were night tables for both, little red alarm clocks on each. We could all stand straight, the ceilings being higher since we were on the 31st floor of the 35 floor building. There was a little door at the edge of the loft, opening into a walk-in closet. Wow. I think I'm in love.
"It has to be too expensive, I mean look at it." Lydia said. The apartment that came furnished, with everything we see, that was a replica of our high school dreams, was so damn beautiful.
"1300 a month, that's with cable and hydro and electricity included. Not many people want to live in a busy area these days. The prices got lower. You ladies are in luck." Sarah smiled as we screeched. Is this happening? This is happening. Actually happening.
"When do we move in?!" Lydia squealed.
We were set to move in a week and a half.
Best impulsive decision ever.
