"....TIME TO DANCE!" Jeff screamed from the stage, the final speech being given. Dinner was almost over, a few folks heading to the main floor. I was pushing around my small stack of potatoes, trying to calm my nerves. Calum placed his hand on my leg, "Can I have this dance?"

I dropped my spoon, nodding to him as I took his hand. The familiar guitar intro sounded over the speakers, the tune of my favourite song filling my ears.

"Give me love like her," Ed's voice rang, setting a perfect mood for a slow dance.

"Cause lately I've been waking up alone."

My hand was in Calum's, one hand on his shoulder and his other on my waist. Waltzing.

We began the steps, teaching Cal my vague knowledge of the traditional dance. Michael had taught it to me.

I glanced up towards the bar, seeing Michael's glossy eyes staring back at me. All I could see was pain.

He was cruel. He was a terrible, terrible person for what he did and said to me. But I still loved him and it hurt to see him so broken.

I turned back to Calum, smiling at him as he twirled me. We were further across the dance floor, the chorus of the song beginning.

"Oh, I just want to hold you."

The orchestrated instruments kicked in, my eyes wandering across the room again to see him. His eyes were tearing, his tongue sticking out to wet his lips. I couldn't stop looking at him.

Calum leaned into my ear, my eyes still stuck across the room, "Madison, I've been meaning to ask you about something..."

Michael slumped in his bar stool, his tears running freely down his face.

"... I really like you, like really like you, and I thought maybe we could try out dating? I mean not right away, especially with Michael and stuff. But I'd like to make you mine."

It was overbearing, the urge to vomit forcing me out of the enclosing ball room, "I'm sorry, I can't do this."

With one last glance at Michael, I ran up the stairs. Looking down on the ball, I could see three people looking up at my crying face. Michael, Calum and Lydia. I ducked into a hallway, trying to catch my breath.

With the pressure of something with Cal and the pressure of Michael cheating on me, I was emotionally pushed into a panic attack. I felt a hand on my back as I hyperventilated, rubbing circles with their thumb.

I turned back, seeing Michael's puffy eyes blinking wildly.

"It's okay, shh," he whispered, my fingers wrapping around his forearm and pushing it away gently.
