I separated from Katara and walked into Sokka's hut. It was warmer than the outside.  He was mixing paint, grey, white, and black. Silence filled the room. He signaled me to change into my warrior attire. The warrior outfit Dad made for me before he left. If something were to happen it would be easier to move in then my pakra. I was one the only girl in the South to own one for a long time. Dad said I deserved it, my thoughts lingered on those memories.

I hesitantly nodded and went to change. I walked back to where Sokka was still mixing paint. He always needed to take time to do that, he was never all that good at remembering the ratio. I sat in front of him. I guess he really is serious. I grab the grey paint and Sokka lifts his head. He blinked in response.

"What you did back there,, thanks,,You always put Katara and me first." I whispered out

"Any time" He smiles and nods.

"Keep still will you, the paint will get messed up" I groaned as I continued to paint his face.

He chuckled at my remark. My fingers gently outline to define his facial features, the paint is meant to resemble that of a wolf. Sokka returned the favor by painting my face. Our dad taught us how to do things like this, it was tradition. Being twins, dad forced us to do this together. Hoping neither one of us would fight over our Southern culture and who was better, at least what was left of our heritage. It didn't stop us from bickering but at least it let us be closer as siblings. It was easier for me to feel freer with him. We were almost always together. He understood me.

"You're apologizing to Katara though" I sternly said when he finished. Opening my eyes.

"What! Why?"

"I said what I said. You just do it" I ordered

"You're not even slightly bothered?"

"She's our little sister, I can't stay that mad"

Sokka groans loudly.

Sokka stood at the top of the wall, club in hand. I almost started to believe nothing was going to happen. It was silent. But too silent to expect nothing. It made me uneasy. The ground began to shake and everyone started running to their huts.

I made sure the elderly got away, unharmed by the ice cracking.

"Sokka. Get out of the way!" Katara yelled at our idiotic brother who stood his ground.

I whipped around, widened my eyes at how close my brothers was to the ship.

"Move it!" I yelled with urgency. But he didn't budge.

The ship hit the wall causing Sokka to come down with the snow. Everyone watched as the ship came to a stop. I clutched my spear as the door began to open. Sokka backed away so as to not hit his head with the metal door, causing him to stumble and fall in the snow. Fog encircled the entrance to the ship as Fire Nation soldiers started to march towards us. The one leading them, scarred on his left eye. Sokka held his hand out to tell me to stay put. Sokka screamed, holding the club and running towards the soldiers. Bold Sokka, not smart, just bold. I internally facepalmed myself. Tensions escalated. The villagers gasped.

"Where are you hiding him?" He demanded

The scarred boy took a look around our small village. I glared at him. He reached out and roughly pulled my grandmother from Katara. My blood boiled but I did my best to keep composure.

"He'd be about this age! Master of all elements!" He shoved her back and Katara and I caught her.

"Who you're looking for isn't here. Leave now," I demanded
