Chapter 9

I walked past the crowd of New York as I made my way onto campus. My eyes were fixed onto the script I held in my hand.

I had been practicing for days and was beyond nervous. This was the first play taking place for our batch.

Today were the auditions that I had been preparing for these past few days. I was walking with my head down and accidentally bumped into the person in front of me.

"I'm sor-oh it's you" I stopped myself from apologising when I realised it was Rohan. "Of course it's you" He rolled his eyes.

I began to walk past him when he noticed the script in my hand. "You auditioning too?" He asked.

"Yes why?" I replied bluntly. "Nothing just know your daddy can't control what happens in a college play" He told me.

I furrowed my brows. "So?" I asked. "Do you have a problem with my dad?" I questioned since he always brings him up.

"No I just hope daddy's little princess knows how to handle disappointment when she can't get in with her daddy's name"

He walked off and I stood there with my jaw dropped with disbelief. "Sue?" Alayna walked up to me.

I didn't look at her, I just looked in the direction that Rohan walked even though he wasn't there anymore.

"He-he jus-what an ASSHOLE!" Alayna jumped at my reaction. "What?! Who?? what happened?" She asked.

I finally turned away from the direction. "Rohan Singh" I muttered. I looked at her in disbelief when she started laughing.

"I swear you two have a thing" She said in between laughs. "Excuse me?!" I smacked her arm and started walking.

"Come on Sue you can't tell me you haven't noticed the tension" Alayna said as I sat down on the steps to Maira.

"What tension?" Maria turned her attention from her script to us. "The tension between her and Rohan" Alayna told her with a smirk.

"Ooo did something happen again?" Maira and Alayna laughed at me. I just stared at them with my mouth agape.

"That guy is absolutely disrespectful to me how could you think something is happening between us?" I asked them in disbelief.

"Oh relax we don't think something is happening but maybe something could?" I scoffed and picked up my bag.

"Aight I'm out" I said as I walked off. I could hear them laughing from behind. I ignored them and kept walking.

"Rohan and I?" I talked to myself. "Never!" I shuddered at the mere thought of us being together.

I found an empty classroom and walked inside. I had to practice more for the part I was auditioning for.

No way in hell am I going to let Rohan be right about this. I have done a dozen plays since I was a kid, this is nothing.

I spent an hour in that classroom preparing before I left for my other classes. I was distracted the whole day due to the auditions.

It was currently 4:50pm and I was making my way to the auditorium where the auditions were being held.

I had just come back from fixing my appearance after the long day of classes. As I walked with my friends, I saw Rohan with a bunch of his friends.

I made sure to look at him until he turned to me. Then I immediately rolled my eyes and flipped my hair before looking away.

"Petty much?" Alayna whispered. "Always" I whispered back. She snorted and smacked my arm lightly.

All of us waited patiently outside as we waited for our individual turns. Rohan and I glared at each other from opposite ends.

"Haye ankhon ankhon se pyar" [Love with your eyes] Alayna whispered dramatically. Maira snorted at her comment.

"Ankhon se goli na maar doon" [Rather shoot a bullet at him with my eyes] They laughed at my response.

"You know both your situation reminds me of that song with PC" Maira mentioned. "What song?" I asked.

"Oh oh that Ram Leela song" They both burst out laughing and I shook my head at them. "Don't ruin such a hot song for me" I told them.

"Suhana Khan?" I heard my name being called for my turn. "Oh wish me luck" I said as I hurried off to the caller.

"That's me" I told her and she led me in. I've been to many auditions throughout my life for several plays in my school life.

I've also observed many auditions for my dads' or his friends' movies. This was nothing new but I had a new hunger for getting this role.

I needed to shut that idiot Rohan up. I had to prove to him that he was wrong about me and I am capable enough to get a simple role.

I greeted the panel which had Derek as well since he was one of the professors in charge. "Okay Suhana you can start whenever you're ready"

I nodded and started my audition that I have been prepping for these past few days. "Great thank you!" I got excited at their responses.

"We have to go through all the auditions and release the results at the end but I don't think you have anything to worry about"

I sighed in relief when they told me that. "Thank you" I said as I left the auditorium. "How was it?" My friends asked me as soon as I ran up to them.

"Oh it was alright! Really fun too" I didn't want to tell them what they said inside to discourage anyone even though we were auditioning for separate roles.

We were waiting right outside the auditorium as the auditions went on. Alayna and Maira finished as well.

"Listen up everyone!" Derek got out attention as he stepped out of the auditorium. "Everyone gave great auditions" There were excited murmurs all around.

"We will have to discuss more and we'll release the results by 11:59pm tonight" I sighed at the announcement. I have to wait so long to get my result.

"Those who are selected will be emailed personally so if you don't get an email, sorry to say you're not selected for this play" Derek informed everyone before dismissing us.

"Get ready to be disappointed princess" Rohan said to me as I walked past him. "Yeah keep telling yourself that and maybe you'll accept it soon...princess" I fired back.

Even his friends were impressed by my comeback. I walked away, laughing with my friends.

I spent too much time talking to Ananya and Shanaya on FaceTime that I went to shower really late at night.

As soon as I got to my apartment, I called them up immediately. I hadn't been able to talk to them because of the time difference.

I ranted to them about Rohan and told them what my friends were saying about us. I immediately hung up on them when they started agreeing with Alayna and Maira.

My phone was buzzing violently and interrupting my songs as I took my shower. I rushed to pick it up.

My group chat with Alayna and Maira was blowing up with their messages. They got the roles they were auditioning for.

I looked at the time it was 12:01. I immediately switched apps and opened my email. I jumped in excitement when I read the email telling me I got the role.

I was shivering from the shower as I told my friends but I didn't care, I was just too damn happy. I couldn't wait to rub it in Rohan's face.
