I was still embarrassed about what happened a few days ago. My white t-shirt was completely covered in paint after I fell from a ladder in front of everyone.
I didn't want to ever remember it and I knew word would have probably spread by now. I would hear murmurs every now and then on campus.
For Rohan's sake, I was glad he didn't show up in front of me since the incident or I would've punched his face.
I wasn't in the mood of going to the carnival but my friends insisted. They reminded me of how excited I was to go to it.
I also remembered my father telling me to never be afraid to fall and laugh at yourself. I could quite literally relate to his words in this situation.
So, as I've always followed my dad's advice, I decided to go to the carnival in full confidence. I made sure to wear one of my best outfits.
I wanted to show people I wasn't hiding. "Damn gurl you look hot" Maira complimented once she saw me.
"I'm not gonna lie the bi in me is panicking real hard" I laughed at Alayna's dramatic reaction. "Come on let's go" I dragged them inside.
I looked around the carnival as if I was a child. Everything looked just like in the movies. I couldn't wait to try out everything.
"Ouch" I caught the attention of my friends. "I put too much pressure on my foot that's all" I told them.
"Maybe you should sit down" Maira suggested. "Oh no no I didn't come here to sit down" I whined.
"Come on I'm fine" assured them. We went on some of the small rides that the college had arranged for.
I laughed along with my friends as we got off one of the rides. "Oo I wanna play that" I pointed. I limped my over excitedly.
"Let's get something to eat first" Alayna said. "But I wanna play" I pouted at them. "A child, a literal child" Maira said.
"How bout you play and we go get some food for us" Maira suggested. Soon enough I was alone at the game stand.
I paid for the game and was about to start playing when I heard Rohan's voice. "Your ankle good?" I ignored his question and his fake concern.
I took the darts and started aiming them towards the board. "Your aim is as bad as your painting" He commented.
I looked through the corner of my eyes and saw him leaning against the game booth and watching me.
I threw another dart and I missed. "Never mind your aim is worse" He said. "Do you always have to come and distract me?" I finally turned to him.
"Are you really that easily distracted?" He laughed at me. He pushed himself off the edge of the booth and walked towards me.
His tall figure towered over me. He leaned down to my ear. "Or maybe I just have a strong effect on you" His hot breath hit my ear.
Before I knew it I was inhaling his cologne. I snapped myself out of it and pushed him away from me.
"In your wildest dreams" I told him. I limped away from him. "Oof power walk" He mocked my injured ankle. "Ass" I muttered.
"What's that princess?" He asked. "Ass" I repeated loudly. "Oo that kind of tone is not suited for a princess such as yourself" He mockingly said.
"You two gonna play or what?" We turned to the student in charge of the game. Poor fella had been waiting on us this whole time.
"Sorry yes another game for me" I paid him. "One for me" Rohan put his money on the booth next to mine. This man was really asking for it.
Neither of us issued a challenge but neither of us needed to. There had been an unsaid challenge between the two of us since the day we met.
We started throwing our darts at the same time. I completely ignored his presence so I could focus on the game.
My last dart unfortunately missed the entire board and Rohan's hit right in the middle of his board.
I shut his eyes as I waited for him to mock me. For a moment I thought he wasn't going to do it when I didn't hear anything from him.
Obviously, I was wrong to assume such a pompous jerk wouldn't say anything. He started mocking me as soon as I opened my eyes.
"Well I guess we can add this to the list of activities that are not meant for you princess" He chuckled.
"See there's painting, dart-throwing, climbing a ladder and what els-" He started listing things and I interrupted him.
"There is a special place in hell for people like you" I told him. "How are you so disrespectful?" I asked him.
"What did I even do to you?" I finally questioned him. I had never asked him this directly before for some reason.
"You have been nothing but terrible since I merely said 'Hi' and I can't think of one good reason why" I snapped at him.
He didn't answer me. "You talk about my dad a lot especially of what he has given me" He listened to me with his jaw clenched.
"But you know what's the most important thing he gave me?" I asked him. "A lesson on how to respect people" I said loudly.
"Didn't your parents teach you anything?" I asked angrily. His face changed. He was no longer just angry.
There was something different in his eyes but I couldn't tell what it was. He immediately covered it up with his rage and stormed off.
"Damn girl" The guy at the game booth said. I rolled my eyes at him and limped away. I limped towards the street and hailed a cab.
I texted my friends that I was heading home once I sat inside. I decided to call it a night and head home. I was done with this college carnival.
