-Knock knock-
"Uhuhguh" Was my way of saying "I'm coming", to the person knocking on my door. I felt as if my eyelids were glued together. Forcefully prying them open I was met with the familiar ceiling of my bedroom.
Vision blurry and nerves barely responding I rolled out of bed. Thurdermore, I was blinded by the golden light of the sun shining in through the single window. I yawned, attempting to gain some sort of control over my body.
I waddled my way over to the exit, feeling for the cold sensation of the metal handle. I grasped it and pulled it down, forgetting to alert the one on the other side.
I used a bit too much strength and practically flung the door open. Luckily, the person managed to jump to the side and therefore avoided getting hit.
"Geez, didn't expect to get crushed today." The blondie exclaimed, readjusting his disheveled cape. Rubbing my eyes, I groaned in response as my brain slowly worked to form a sentence. "Didn't expect to see you this early, Armin." Yawning, I watched the boy's eyebrows furrow. His hair shone in the bright light – a stark contrast with his vibrant blue eyes, who did their best to examine me.
His lips parted, practicing the words about to be uttered. "It's not...morning...anymore y/n..." Armin spoke slowly, making sure I caught every word he said.
"Not morning...?" I watched him, processing what I had just heard. Armin shook his head. "You...well, uh" He faltered, biting his lip. "The corporal... let you sleep in." I silently cursed the short man. Staying close and doting on me are not the same.
I glared at the perfectly polished floor, making an oath to speak with him about it.
"Are you not feeling well?" Looking back up I met Armin's curious gaze; quickly moving my eyes to look out the window. He didn't need to get the wrong idea and think I was mad at him.
Milk white clouds had replaced the stars from yesterday. Behind them, a bright blue sky peaked through, which could only mean I had missed the first training session.
I looked behind me and moved to close the door. "I am fine, and I'd like to know what the knocking on my door was about." I dodged his question. Even though he didn't seem convinced, he didn't press me further. "R-right," He swept the cape away on his right side and stuck one of his hands in a brown cloth bag strapped to his belt.
"I... thought you'd be hungry after skipping breakfast." He moved his hand around in the fabric. "And I saved you some bread." He took out his hand to search with his eyes instead.
"But it seems like... Sasha got to it first." Sighing he pulled back his cape. My stomach growled, and I put a hand on it to make it shut up. Armin noticed and looked down at his feet to hide a blush. "I'm sorry I... should've been more careful." He nervously fiddled with his fingers. I swallowed my instinct to say it wasn't his fault, otherwise, he'd still believe he was to blame.
I knew Sasha couldn't resist food she was able to get her hands on, so this wasn't a big surprise.
My stomach rumbled, a bit lower this time. "It's alright, Sasha can sniff out food from a mile away, so hiding any from her is practically impossible." I explained, trying to lessen his guilt.
The blonde chuckled. "Yeah..." I watched him furrow his eyebrows again, brain practically sending sparks from where he stood.
"Oh!" He flung his head back up. "You should get ready, we'll head out soon!" Then turned on his heel and jogged down the hallway, while I stayed behind. Where in the world could we be heading now?
"Wait! What do you mean 'head out'?" I yelled after him, the sound bouncing off the walls. He turned his head to look back at me. "We're moving headquarters!" With a smile he was off, turning at a corner and disappearing from my view.
