"You should've seen him! He said 'Night' instead of nice" Remus retold for the third time as we ate our dinner after the sorting ceremony.

"We sleep in the same dorm, Moony, I'd be careful if I were you" I warned, taking a sip of my pumpkin juice.

"It is pretty funny though" Peter said, raising his hands in his defense after I gave him a glare.

"It was a simple mistake" I grumbled, stabbing a piece of roasted beef on my plate. "I didn't expect her to be there, caught me by surprise"

"Speaking of surprise" Peter said, looking behind me.

I turned around and was met by a pair of green eyes and fiery red hair.(a/n the urge to say orbs for shits and giggles)

"Lily!" I exclaimed in a high pitch voice, standing up immediately, causing my plate to slightly move and knock over my cup.

I ignored the mess and the groans and I especially ignored the insults the boys were throwing at me, knowing they had to clean up my mess.

"You look like you've pissed yourself" Lily snorted, covering her mouth, looking at my trousers that had a wet stain on them from the drink spilling.

I widened my eyes and looked down, my cheeks turning red as I felt more embarrassed than when I accidentally did piss myself when I was 8 at the park.

Remus sighed and quickly did a drying spell on my trousers. "Sit down mate, it's not your day"

I scoffed yet listened to him, knowing he was somewhat right. It really was not my day.

"Are you here to say 'yes' to my question, Lilyflower?" I smiled, trying to make it my day as I recovered from the little incident.

"What question?" She asked, raising a brow with an annoyed look.

"You didn't read my letters?" I asked a bit more timidly, my confidence fading by the second.

"I'm here for Remus, we have to take the first years to their dorms" She simply said, crossing her arms looking at Remus.

"Right! I'll see you lot later" Remus said before chugging his pumpkin juice and running off with Lily. What most didn't know was that Remus had skillfully learned the spell of turning water into rum, the most impressive part was that he learned how to do it silently without anyone noticing.

"So, Scarlett?" Sirius asked me, wiggling his brows.

"What about her?"

"You think she's pretty" Peter stated.

"Yeah, and?"

"Well, talk to her!" Sirius exclaimed.

"I spoke to her for not even a full five minutes and we've been here for like two hours"

"Yet we know so much about her"

"Yeah, through a bunch of secondary sources" I scoffed, refilling my empty cup with pumpkin juice.

"We knew her brother" Peter shrugged. "Sort of"

Xavier Wilde. He was captain of the Hufflepuff quidditch team and a year older, which meant that we naturally had to hate him - but we couldn't. He was always optimistic and fair, he was the true Hufflepuff embodiment.

We spoke about twice, privately. The first time was to tell me that his best mate had asked out Lily and didn't want me to hear it through the grapevine. The second time was to congratulate me on the first Gryffindor win against Hufflepuff, we had gone neck and neck on catching the snitch, it felt more fun than competitive.

Usually, he would catch us late at night since he was a Prefect and would do night rounds. He would see us sneaking into the kitchens and sometimes he would join us for a quick laugh and bite. Other time we would be setting up our pranks for the morning, and he would simply pretend like he didn't notice.

"Okay, so lets get a primary source" Sirius devilishly smiled at me before looking at the right side of the table and yelling excitedly. "MARNEY!"

I groaned and rubbed my head, knowing that Marlene and Scarlett were sitting together. He is such a little shit starter.

"Piss off, Black! I'm eating" Marlene yelled back, giving him a glare and going back to her conversation with Scarlett.

"I tried" He shrugged, going back to his food.

"Thank Merlin" I whispered, letting out a small breath. "Besides, i'm not giving up on Lily just because I think another girl is pretty"

"How about you give up on her because, well I don't know, she has a boyfriend?" Peter pointed out.

"Shut up" I said, throwing a few peas at him. "They won't last"

"Its been like a year or so" Peter deadpanned.

"Yeah and he's a year older than us which means he's leaving first and then it will be just me and her"

"Great plan! Except for the part that she hates you - a lot" Sirius sarcastically said.

"Ehh, won't be forever"

"What's so wrong about just getting to know Scarlett?" Peter reasoned.

"You lot don't even know Scarlett yet you want me to get to know her? All we really know is that she's a pretty girl with a lot of baggage" I said, rather loudly than I imagined. I closed my mouth immediately scared to look to my right to see if she heard me. "She didn't hear me right?" Both their faces said otherwise as they glanced behind me, putting their heads down, staring at their plate as I slowly turned around to see Scarlett. "It's really not my day"

"Clearly" She chuckled, shaking her head. "I came here to get Brussel sprouts and instead I got a backhanded compliment"

"I didn't mean it like tha-"

"I'm sure you didn't" She snapped back. "It's okay though, i'm sure you'll embarrass yourself again soon and we'll be even" Scarlett shrugged, as she leaned over to put a few brussel sprouts on her plate. Her scent of rose and vanilla passing by me quickly. "Bye...dick"

"I hate my life" I groaned, putting my head in my hands.

"Welcome to the club" Sirius and Peter muttered.
