After that grueling night, we spent the rest of our time testing out our new abilities and training before we reconvened at the guild hall. "Home sweet home," Natsu groaned.
"Are you guys just gonna lay around all day?" Macao asked loudly. "Get up!"
"YEAH! Stand up! C'mon and get on your feet, like a bunch of real men!" Elfman roared.
I hum in surprise. "You sure bulked up, Elfman," I laugh.
"The three of us all trained super hard up in the mountains for the past few months." Lisanna mentioned.
"I've got the muscles every real man dreams of!" Elfman beams.
"Well, I've hit my own milestone over the past three months, and now I can finally eat fermented soybeans." Vijeeter commented.
"And I'm proud to announce that I've overcome by once-crippling fear of heights!" Warren explains.
"I don't think those things will be very helpful to us." Happy commented.
"My honey gun and I have got our sharp shooting skills to an all-time high." Bisca grins.
"Bam!" Alzack chants.
"And I was able to finish reading an entire thirty volume horror novel series!" Nab added.
"No surprise there, Nab still isn't going out on jobs," I mention to Natsu.
"No kidding," Natsu grunts.
"My sand storm is more powerful than it's ever been before!" Max exclaims. "I bet I could even beat Natsu if we fought!"
"Oh yeah?" Natsu chided.
"Good work, everyone!" Makarov chirped.
"Hey, Gramps!" Natsu cheered.
"It appears that you've all trained very hard to prepare for the Grand Magic Games," Makarov commented. "Right now, I'd like everybody to join me inside." We all convened inside, eagerly awaiting for Makarov to start. "Listen up, kids! It's time to announce the six who'll be representing Fairy Tail in the Grand Magic Games!" Makarov cleared his throat delicately. "Natsu." Natsu gave an excited cheer. "Aria." My lip quirked up before I nodded my head. "Gray." Gray bowed his head and hummed. "Erza." Erza grinned and accepted.
"Of course, those four were kind of a shoo-in for the team." Mira chuckled.
"Who will get the last two spots?" Lisanna wondered.
"We're gonna need a real man to represent our guild!" Elfman chanted.
"And the remaining two will be... Lucy and Wendy!" Makarov announced.
Elfman immediately began to bawl. "How humiliating!"
"Seriously? Those two?" Max sighed.
"Don't be so down, at least you won't be so embarrassed like last year," Marko commented.
"But I'm not a fighter, master!" Wendy complained. "Can't you pick Laxus or Gajeel for the team instead?"
"I don't really have that option," Makarov grunted. "Because neither of them has come back yet."
"We weren't chosen for our individual strength. But our combined strength as a team," Erza commented. "So let's make him proud and give it our all!"
"Right," Lucy nodded. "Good point."
"Yeah! I'll do my very best!" Wendy beamed.
"I think we'd have much more of a fighting chance with Laxus and Gajeel on the team." Makarov grumbled. "But my hands are tied here..."
