~2WEEKS LATER~
ALORA'S POV
You know the saying time flies? That wasn't the case of pregnancy. Infact, when you become pregnant it was as though time was mocking you.
My stomach was not Really enormous, you'd barely notice I was pregnant. But the bump had started to grow.
Today was the day of the event, and my guts was telling me not to go. But I had already forced Pablo into it, there was no going back now.
I was dressed in a black gown, it wasn't too tight or too free. I wore a fendi pull over jacket on it, for safety reasons. Tiffany helped with my makeup, we've gotten really close lately. Tiffany and Emiliano had gotten close too.
She wouldn't talk about him alot, but I noticed. The twins were to stay home with Frida, Frida decided she wasn't going. Which was understandable, she didn't want to go alone or be like a fifth wheel, since I'd be going with pablo and Tiffany would be going with Emiliano.
Everything has been fine for the past week.. except that I'm always easily dehydrated, I'm always tired and I'm always sick. The doctor said it was normal for the first trimester, but I think he just said that so he could leave our room quickly...
At the moment I was in a limousine with Tiffany, Emiliano and Pablo. I just sat back, staring at the roof top of the car. Thinking back to everything that had happened this year, and how I've had happy moments, heartbreaking moments.
It's been a really tough year for me, I didn't know how I was going to celebrate Christmas without my mum. I was born on the 25th, so it was always a tradition for my mum and I to celebrate my birthday and Christmas all at once....
We would always be each other's secret Santa, and every year we would pretend to be surprised that we were each other's secret Santa. There was never anyone else, but it was still always fun. I know my childhood makes me sound like such a loser, but I didn't feel that way, I really didn't
You know that saying "you can't miss what you never had"? That was how it was for me, I never had friends so I could never miss them, I did want them, but I didn't miss them.
The car door opening brought me out of my thoughts, Pablo stood there extending his hands for me to take and I did. Packing as much of the long dress I could take in a single hand I stepped out.
Now! The must important thing in this event was showing how much money you've made over the years. For mafia that were on good terms, they'd chat and talk about how to better their alliance. For mafias that were just meeting for the first time, or for some reasons had to change their don, for example; Pablo. They'd forge new alliances, now for mafias that were enemies, they'd drop ambiguous threats to their rival...
As easy as that, so it was most times a very dangerous event. When I say most times I didn't mean for me, it was always a dangerous situation for me, but no one knows you like you. Therefore no one really knew I was scared for my life, and therefore my showings up always made them question if I was a human with feelings at all.
Walking in some men came to greet us, I walked side by side with Pablo with Emiliano and Tiffany behind us. Whenever we met any of our alliance we would shake hands and talk about ways to better our business. Now what I didn't make clear is the fact that in this meeting it was a must for every mafia to talk with each other.
It was basically tradition, now what I mean by that is. Every mafia family, starting from the Mexican Mafia to the Sicilian Mafia and to other minor mafia are meant to talk, no one cared if you weren't on talking terms or not, and that was were the vague threats come in.
Walking up to Vincenzo and my uncle Severino, we all shook hands. Vincenzo grabbed my hand and gave it a very firm shake, everyone knew he was indirectly threatening me, but we all smiled. None of our smiles reaching our ears.
Vincenzo was an old man, he was to say in his late eighties. Which was understandable, now listen closely cause I'm about to explain how Vincenzo is related to me and my mum and why he was the one who inherited the Sicilian Mafia and Not my dumb uncle, Severino.
My grandfather, which is Severino's brother was the Don of the mafia, unfortunately he had only one girl. My mum, he refused to get married again even after all the pressure from his mother, my great grand mother. Severino was my grandfather's only brother and the dumbest being there was.
My grandfather later died from an attack from an unknown mafia and my grandmother died of an heart attack due to the news. My mum was twenty-five then and had already made a name for herself, but with my grandfather gone, everyone pressured my mum into the marriage she was in before she died.
After my grandfather's death, it was settled to give the mafia to my grandfather's right hand, Vincenzo. It was the best idea, and when it was Vincenzo son's turn to take over the mafia, to them it was only fair to get both of us married.
Before I continue, I'm not the good guy in the story
