It was three am and Kaitlyn reread the texts that Ellie sent for what seemed to be the hundredth time. Her tears had finally dried but the pain in her chest was still there.
It was not a true physical pain from her pain conditions, but the type of pain that you feel when a deep betrayal occurs.
The type of pain that makes it hard to breathe and like a knife was stabbed through your heart and was twisted.
Kaitlyn looked at her phone and read the words that brought all of this pain.
"Kaitlyn. I am so sorry. I feel like the worst friend in the world. My guilt has been eating me alive all day and I can't bear keeping this secret from you any more.
Lacey and Blaire are at the Taylor Swift concert right now.
She never had to go meet Brandon.
It was Blaire who called Lacey from the bathroom.
They planned this whole thing. Doing the hair and makeup so they would be 'presentable' at the concert.
Faking the phone call so that they had a reason to leave.
They invited me and I originally said yes, but when I asked about you, they said that you said that you couldn't go because of your health.
I am ashamed to say that I believed them. When you started talking yesterday about being upset that you could not see Taylor, alarm bells began to ring in my head.
I confronted Lacey and Blaire and they told me their real plan.
They asked me not to tell you.
You know it's impossible to say no to them.
How am I supposed to choose between my friends?
They also took you off of their private snapchat and instagram stories so they could post their concert videos.
I'm sorry"
Ellie followed up the series of texts with screenshots of both Lacey and Blaire's stories.
How could her best friends do this to her? Kaitlyn sobbed into her pillow as the tears returned.
They all knew Taylor Swift was her favorite artist and how bad she wanted to go to the show.
They were so sympathetic when Kaitlyn said the show sold out and that they couldn't go. But it was all an act wasn't it?
If they had tickets this whole time that meant that they had always planned to leave her out.
The realization struck Kaitlyn that they used her. The only reason that they came over was to get ready. Her feelings currently for Lacey and Blaire were clear as day. They lied and manipulated her and excluded her from something that she had made clear that she wanted to go to.
They even invited Ellie! She had been their friends longer than she had!
Thinking of Ellie made Kaitlyn feel extremely conflicted. Yes she appreciated Ellie telling her what her friends did, but it hurt that she did not tell her until it already happened. By not doing anything at the time, it hurt almost, if not, just as bad as Lacey's and Blaire's betrayal.
It was hard to believe Ellie's claim on believing that she did not want to go because of her health, as she has said how she would go if she could afford the resale tickets that were over $400. How could she just realize the day of the concert? That just doesn't add up. And why wouldn't she tell her as soon as she found out the truth? She were supposed to be one of her best friends, but that is the opposite of how friends are supposed to act
