Kaitlyn woke up still upset with her friends, but the thought of meeting with Crystal and Sierra gave her the motivation to get out of bed.
They were supposed to meet at noon at Sierra's house, and it was just after nine when Kaitlyn woke up. That did not give her a lot of time, but she would manage.
After having a quick breakfast and shower, Kaitlyn asked her mom if she would be able to drop her off at Sierra's house. She agreed and told her to be in the car in 15 minutes, as Sierra lived about twenty minutes away.
Kaitlyn knew that she should take her phone with her, but her 'friends' have been texting her and she did not want to see what they had to say. If it wasn't for the fact that her mom always made her have her phone on her incase of an emergency, she would have left it at home.
She did not realize that she had been staring at her phone and was startled out of her thoughts when her mom called to her that she would be in the car.
Kaitlyn put her phone on do not disturb and raced down the stairs and into the car.
"What exactly are you going to be doing at Sierra's house? I remember you saying that it had something to do with their business, but am struggling to remember what exactly it is and what you will be doing," Kaitlyn's mom asked as she pulled out of the driveway.
"They make things called tubie pads, which people with feeding tubes put on their skin which prevents rubbing of the part of the feeding tube that is outside of the body. Sierra creates the patterns and Crystal does the actual sewing and marketing. Some designs Sierra has done include lemons, flowers, and even seasonal ones for the holidays."
"Another product that they have is tubie clips. It is one piece of fabric folded over that on one end has a clip on one side that can attach to clothing and a button on the other side which allows you to secure tubes that are connected to things like feeding tubes, or even IV's."
"For people with feeding tubes that go down the nose, they have made tape with cool designs on it. The tape keeps the tube in place on the person's face. They want people who are suffering to feel beautiful and be able to smile. They have actually donated a quarter of what they had made to the Children's Hospital."
"I am not exactly sure what I will be doing to help, but I am excited nonetheless," Kaitlyn finished her speech.
Her mom was really impressed. Those teenage girls had a passion that was dedicated to helping people. She was secretly thrilled that her daughter was making some new friends, as lately, she had been getting some off vibes from both Lacey and Blaire.
She knew better than to try to dictate who her daughter became friends with, as that would only make her upset. That was why she was so thrilled that Kaitlyn wanted to join the support group. She hoped that Kaitlyn could find a new group of friends. A group that was more understanding of everything that she was going through.
Kaitlyn was oblivious to her mom's thoughts and began to wonder what exactly she was going to do there. She did have a few ideas on how to expand their shop, but decided to keep her ideas to herself until she got a better idea of how they did everything.
Time seemed to fly by with both Kaitlyn and her mom lost in thought. It seemed like almost no time at all passed when they pulled up outside of Sierra's house.
When the car stopped Kaitlyn's fears came back full force.
What if they don't like her?
What if they laugh in her face and say that she should just go home?
'I can't think like this, everything is going to be okay. Deep breaths. You got this,' Kaitlyn chanted in her mind.
"Thanks for taking me mom, I will text you when I need to be picked up. Love you!"
