Chapter 15

The first thing that Kaitlyn saw when the door opened was Michael smiling. She noticed that his smile got slightly bigger when he saw Crystal, and she wondered if Michael had feelings for Crystal.

Kaitlyn pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind and smiled back at Michael and thanked him for inviting her.

Michael invited both Kaitlyn and Crystal inside and said that everyone else was here already in the basement.

As they walked towards the door, Kaitlyn heard some music but couldn't quite identify what it was as it was too soft to fully hear. Michael opened the door to the basement and said "lady's first, while gesturing for Kaitlyn and Crystal to walk in front of him.

Kaitlyn was finally able to hear the song that was playing; I Knew You Were Trouble.

That song made her happy as she loved Taylor, but it also brought up the memories of her ex-friends.

As she made her way down the steps Kaitlyn could not believe what she saw.

Kaitlyn stopped and her jaw was practically on the floor.

She discreetly pinched herself to see if she was dreaming, but the pain in her arm showed that she was very much in fact awake.

The thing that made Kaitlyn freeze was the sight of everyone in the support group. That sight was expected, but the fact that they were all in blonde Taylor Swift wigs singing in fake microphones was not.

Kaitlyn couldn't help it and burst out laughing and turned to Crystal, as she knew it had to be her, or Sierra's idea.

Crystal answered the unasked question and said, "what your ex-friends did was unforgivable, and I thought you would like a do-over of sorts but this time with people who like you and want to spend time with you. You are my friend Kaitlyn, and I wanted to show you that we really care about you, even though we haven't known each other for long."

Tears began to fill Kaitlyn's eyes and she grabbed Crystal and brought her into a big hug. She whispered a heartfelt thank you into her ear.

The hug lasted a solid two seconds before Michael yelled "group hug" and put his arms around both Kaitlyn and Crystal. Sierra was the next to join with Ashton and Luke joining quickly after. Calum was the last to join and seemed a bit reluctant, but he did join.

It was Ashton who broke the hug first and handed Kaitlyn and Crystal their own Taylor wigs. They both put them on and laughed as the wigs did not lay right. Once they looked acceptable, Michael turned up the music and the girls, and surprisingly Calum, began belting the lyrics while the others 'sang' more quietly."

Kaitlyn couldn't help but sing "you've got that James Dean daydream look in your eye," while looking directly at Ashton, but he seemingly didn't notice.

The next song was to play was Bad Blood and scream singing that song with her new friends was quite therapeutic Kaitlyn thought with a smile.

"Did you have to hit me

Where I'm weak? Baby, I couldn't breathe

And rub it in so deep

Salt in the wound like you're laughing right at me"

Kaitlyn felt a lot lighter when the song was finally over.

"Feeling better?" Ashton asked as he handed her a water bottle.

"A lot. And thanks Ashton. Thanks for being my friend and coming to see if I was okay. I really appreciate it," Kaitlyn sincerely said to Ashton.

Ashton threw an arm around Kaitlyn's shoulder and guided her to the table where pizza and other snacks were sitting.
