Chapter twenty-six ✿

As we approached our next destination a loud thumping sound could be heard in the sharp silence we were surrounded in, well for me and zenitsu, Tanjiro could smell something that we couldn't, i guess he's just deaf or something

We turned to see two children, probably siblings, who are clinging on to each other for dear life, the sight made me feel bad for them honestly, "There a-are kids here?" zenitsu asked, "They look scared" tanjiro said

I walked up to them, kneeling down to their height, tanjiro following not far behind, "Hey guys are you okay? Why are you out here alone?" i asked, but they just kept whimpering, tanjiro got in front of me, also kneeling down to their level "Guess what? Ive got something really cool here, wanna see it? Ta-da, its a friendly sparrow, see, isnt he cute?" tanjiro said while the zenitsu's sparrow chirped, which seemed to calm the kids down just a bit, both of them starting to tear up,

"Talk to us, please." I said, "Did something happen?" Tanjiro asked, "Is this your house?" he continued, "No, no its not, this is- this house is- it- it belongs to- a monster! Our big brother got taken away, we were walking down the road at night and this thing appeared in front of us. It went straight for our brother, never giving us a glance?"

"Did it take him into that house?" Tanjiro asked, To which the kid replied with ayes, "so you two followed them here? That real brave, great job!" Tanjiro said

"We used the traces of his blood to follow them ,that thing really hurt him!" the kid said

"Itll be okay, we'll get your brother back safe and sound" I said,

"Is that true? You'll help him?" the little girl asked,

"Yep! We'll go defeat the bad guy, and save your brother!" Tanjiro confirmed, while the both of us stood up straight again

"Hey tanjiro, y/n, whats that strange sound? Its really unnerving and never stops, it sounds like..a drum" Zenitsu said,

"A drum? I dont hear anything" Tanjiro asked,

"Yeah, I can hear it too, it really is annoying." I said, walking over to zenjitsu to face the house.

It started getting louder and faster, at this point it was clear that everyone could hear it, and suddenly, a man covered in blood was thrown out of the window, and audiblie gasp could be heard from the two boys while I just stood in silence, i could hear the girls screams, Tanjiro immediately ran to the man, while I stayed with the kids,

"Just cover yoru eyes!" I said, trying to calm them down, "Don't look!"

"Tanjiro..by any chance, would that happen to be these kids-" zenitsu was cut off by a loud, and I mean LOUD sound ofa banging drum. We all froze, the two kids hugging each other once again, seeing it really made me miss sabito,

-flashback-

"Hey! N/n! You cant run off like that! You're gonna hurt yourself!" Sabito said, chasing after me

"Haha! You cant catch me!" I yelled, being cut off after tripping on a log, "ow!" Iyelled

"N/n? Y/n?!" Sabito yelled while running over to me, he examined the huge cut on my knee, you couldn't see any skin it was so bad.

"N/n...this is why you cant run in the woods.." He said, hugging me,

Tears started to well up in my eyes, as I stared at the siblings when i felt a hand on my shoulder,

"Y/n? Are you okay?" Tanjiro asked, I nodded while wiping the tears from my eyes, "Yep never been better, oh look at that im crying" I said
