Chapter eight ✿

Your p.o.v

"Only five of us, we started with twenty.." I said, I couldn't believe so many people failed

"So he didn't make it.." I heard Tanjiro mutter beside me "And it's all my fault..."

"No it's not, you couldn't have done anything, he decided to run away"

He turned his head to face me, giving me a weak smile

"I'm gonna die, im done for, I've survived for now but soon enough, dead" we heard a boy say from beside us 'well that's dark'

We just sat in silence, some in relief, some in fear, until we heard the twins speak again,

"Welcome back everyone", they started, "And congratulations, were pleased to see you're safe"

"So? I made it back alive, what do I do now? Wheres my sword?" said this guy beside me with a scar on his face

"Patience, we must first issue you all uniforms, we'll start by taking your measurements, next, your rank will be engraved on the back of your hand. For your reference there are ten ranks,"

They started explaining all the ranks saying there are ten ranks total, Kinoe being the highest, and Mizunoto, we all start at mizunoto since right now, we have almost no experience, they said our swords will take ten to fifteen days to complete, but thats alright, I can be patient.

Before letting us choose the ore for our swords they clapped and ravens flew to all of our shoulders, well..most of us, the yellow haired boy from earlier had gotten a sparrow..

"Aww you're so cute!" I said, and I could have sworn I saw a faint blush on Tanjiro's cheeks...

"I don't need this crap!" The boy from earlier said as he went up the twins and grabbed ones hair,

"Let go!" Tanjiro said, I hadn't even noticed that he'd left

"Or what?" The boy said

"I'll break your arm!"

"I'd like to see you try!"

And with that we heard a crack from his wrist, the yellow haired boy from earlier flinched "What do I do? What do I do!?" He said

"Are you done chatting?" one of the twins asked, and they both went back to their original spots, the boy with the scar on his eye holding his wrist where it broke, they now let us choose our ores, we all stood around the table with the ores, having no clue which to choose until Tanjiro was the first to pick one up and choose ,everyone else was still choosing, and finally settled on a small ore in the middle left of the table.

-Time skip-

We finally made it back, we were extremely tired but then we saw it, Nezuko was awake, Tanjiro ran towards her as fast as he could and she embraced him into a hug, it was so wholesome I could cry, Urokodaki saw that we came back alive and even he started crying, they had a moment until Nezuko noticed me, and she waved me over, I walked over and she pulled me into a hug, my eyes widened 'I forgot completely how it feels to be cared about..' I hugged back and hadn't even noiced I was crying until she wiped my tears away.. After I pulled away from the hug, Tanjiro come over and introduced us, "Nezuko, this is y/n, she my friend." he said while smiling, friend...that's all i'll ever be to him... ugh stop it y/n, I can't make out exactly what Nezuko said, but I think it was somthing along the lines of 'mhmm!'
