Ghost World

"Grace you need to come back, I think ghosts are in Mystic falls." Stefan says over the phone.
"What do you mean?" Grace asks.
"So Damon killed a werewolf who was sleeping with Kathrine and he has just been attacked by him."
"So why do I need to come back?"
"Grace? Really?"
"Yes really Ripper." Klaus said in the background.
"Lexi could be here and want to turn on my humanity."
"Lexi?"
"My sister, killed by Damon."
"That's why you should come back."
"Fine."
Grace grabs her helmet and bag, then hugs Klaus before jumps on her bike.

"Finally Grace."
"Sorry I took two hours. I get your humanity is off but no need to be horrible."
"Says the one who has a grudge against my brother but protects him."
"Oh sorry that I don't get to turn my humanity off because I need to use the dark magic."
"Poor you."
"Says you."

Stefan and Grace are walking down a street and see Lexi's reflection in a car window. They turns around and she's standing before them.
"Lexi!" They both say.
"Hi!"
"You're dead."
"Well, technically, so are you."
"Then how the hell can I see..."
"See me? Yeah, I have no idea. And I have no idea how long it's going to last, so let's get right to the point. You're both off the rails. Big time."
"Look, I don't know how you're here, but you need to leave us alone, okay?"
Stefan starts to move away but Lexi grabs his arm and stops him and looks at Grace.
"Now what kind of a friend would I be if I didn't help you out of this mess you're in?"
"We don't want your help."
"You know, you say that every time. 'I don't want your help. I don't want to get better. Leave me alone.'"
"Well, maybe you should listen this time."
"Or maybe I should do this."
She slams both their heads against a car window. Stefan falls on the ground, unconscious. Grace is shocked and then falls unconscious too.

Outside the restrooms Elena runs into Lexi. She is surprised.
"Looks like today was a good day to be thinking about me, Elena."
"Lexi?"
"Mm-hmm. Come with me."
"Where?"
"Ripper and dark magic detox 101. Crash course."
She takes her by the wrist.
"I..."
"I'm sorry, did you not just say how desperate you were for my help in saving Stefan's life?"
Elena turns her head and looks at the restrooms doors and then looks back at Lexi.
"Let's go. Wait Dark magic? Grace?"
"Yeah she is back and I had to deal with this before."
"She made it seem like she has only had it for under a year."
"Oh no honey it must have resurfaced under a year ago but she has had it before she turned." She leaves with Lexi.

Stefan and Grace are both tied to a chair in the basement cell sleeping with their head bowed. Elena and Lexi are looking at him.
"Klaus really did a number on him, huh?"
"He compelled him to turn off his humanity."
"Well, we're just going to have to convince him to turn it back on. I have to warn you, it's not going to be pretty."
"I can handle it."
Lexi kicks Stefan.
"Wake up, sleepyhead."
Stefan wakes up scaring Grace up.
"How you feelin'?"
He looks at the chair and the chains and struggles with the restraints.
"What is this? Let me out of here!"
"Shh. Inside voices, please. I'm trying to get inside your head."
"Elena. Get rid of her, please."
"No."
"Grace?"
"I wish I could but I can't."
"First step, drying him out. Starve away the blood lust. Strip away the temptation."
"This isn't going to work, Lexi. You can't do this."
"You heard the not pretty part?"
"I heard you."
Lexi leans in front of him and looks Stefan in the eyes.
"What are you doing?"
He suddenly starts growling in pain. His arms and hands start to desiccate.
"What are you doing, Lexi?!"
"Doing what I do best, sweetness. I'm saving your life."
From the outside, Stefan's skin looks fine, free of any desiccation. Stefan is wild.
"I'm starving! I'm starving! I'm starving! Let me out! Let me out. Please let me out."
"What's happening?"
"He's hallucinating. That's three months without any blood."
"Let me out!"
"Now he's at nine months."
Stefan looks worse and worse.
"Two years...Five."
"Did I ever tell you how glad I am that you're dead?"
"Oh. I missed you, too, friend."
Stefan is sweaty and panting.
"Elena, Elena. I'm hurting. Please help me."
"Don't listen. Shut him out."
"I am helping you, Stefan."
"I'll do anything. I'll change. I promise."
"It's a lie. He'll say anything right now."
"Elena, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Just make it stop. Please, just make it stop."
"You have to separate yourself from your emotions. Don't let him play on them."
"Hey, look at me. Look at me."
Elena looks at him
"Elena. I love you, okay? I love you. I love you so much. I love you so much, Elena."
"I'm sorry, Stefan, I just don't believe you."
Stefan's mood changes.
"You know what? I don't want your help, anyway. I wish I'd never met you. Every single moment that I've spent with you has been a complete and total waste."
"You see that? That's the ripper talking. Once he's weak enough, you have to cause him pain. Make him feel things. Anger, rage, anything. You have to make him see past the blood."
She drives a stake through his body then pulls it out.
"Think of it as a regimen. Day in and day out. Like running the treadmill. Like making coffee. Until he's ready to be saved."
"I will rip you apart, Lexi!"
"You can't. I'm already dead."
She drives the stake through his body again.
"I can't..."
She leaves the cell. Lexi looks at her.

"Quit fighting me, Stefan. I know you're in there."
"Not anymore, Lexi."
Elena comes back but stops and watches what's happening.
"You know you say that every time. Until I make you feel again."
She drives a stake through his stomach.
"You wasted your whole life taking care of me. Now you're dead and you still have nothing better to do."
Elena walks over.
"We're running out of time."
"You've got to get me more. I haven't touched Grace."
"I can't."
"No! No...not until I break through."
"I can't, Lexi. They have the necklace. They're going to close the door."
Lexi looks at Stefan.
"The necklace. Okay. That necklace. At least tell me you remember how you felt about that. You found it during your darkest time. And you said, when you made it through, that that necklace represented hope."
"Ironic, then, that it's about to be blown to pieces."

Lexi raises her head and then looks at Elena.
"He's still in there, Elena. You just have to break through. And Grace just comfort her and make sure she forgives Damon for everything."
"It's okay, Lexi, I know what to do now. You can be free."
She smiles, looks at Stefan and Grace then disappears.

Stefan looks up at Elena.
"So what are you going to do, Elena? You just going to stand there? Waiting for me to dry out?"
"No, I'm going to go home, take care of my brother. Be a friend to Bonnie and everything else that I have to do. Also I am going to take Grace with me to stay at yours or mine."
She lets Grace out and starts walking to the door.
"That's good for you. You know, I was wondering when you were going to give up. Lexi gave you...enough of a glimpse into your tragic future."
"I haven't given up, Stefan. I still have hope."
She walks over to him.
"But there's nothing that I can do until you get yours back."
She touches his face.
"Hey. You can break through this. Fight for it. Feel something. Anything, Stefan. Because if you don't, you're going to lose me forever. I won't love a ghost for the rest of my life."
She locks the door and leaves with Grace.
