"Mother Issues."

*

"So.. are you telling me you wanted a M-Mom?" I stattered as I asked Jihoon. He looked down and slowly nodded at me that somewhat made my hands tremble.

"See.. I'm used to grandma being the one to always come with me every Mother's Day celebration. I wanted someone whom I can really call as 'Mom'." Jihoon said and looked at his hands.

"If it's too much of a wish, I wouldn't mention about this anymore, Dad." He added and pulled me to go back to the car so we can go home.

~

The drive towards home was silent. Jihoon hasn't been talking a lot like he used to everytime we go home. He's just slouching on his seat and his eyes are all focused outside the window.

"If it's too much of a wish, I wouldn't mention about this anymore, Dad."

"I've always talked about how much I love your mother, right?" I asked and looked at him through the rearview mirror and saw that he's still looking out of the window.

"I promised myself that I'll love no other woman but her. What I said is final, s-so.." I peeked at the rearview mirror again and saw a tear slid down his cheeks that made me stop the car and check on him.

"Are you alright? What's wrong?"

"I'm just... I'm always mocked by my classmates that.. I-I'm an orphan."

I'm an orphan..

I'm an orphan..

I'm an orphan..

"Jihoon listen to me, YOU ARE NOT AN ORPHAN."

"How can you say so, then?" Jihoon asked and I reached for his face and cupped it, forcing him to look at me.

"We made you, in the most unexpected time. Because of your grandfather's ruthless behavior and because of your mother's comfort, I couldn't control myself that day.. which is why.."

"Don't ever tell me you're an orphan. You're made perfectly and you have your real parents. YOU ARE NOT AN ORPHAN."

~

Jihoon is finally asleep and I silently closed his bedroom door and trudged my way to the veranda. It's quite dark in the streets every evening and it didn't seemed to be a problem at all anyway. The moon is shining bright and it made me remember that night when I spoke a word to Hana.

"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?"

"As beautiful as you, my beloved." I softly spoke and watched the night sky.

I don't know how long has it been that I was watching the sky but the longer I watch the sky, the more the tears stream down my face. It's just so unbelievable until now, none of us would expect that this would happen instead. I always thought I'd grow old with Hana and we'll watch Jihoon get married too..

"But fate's too playful that we had to be like this.."

I sighed and was about to leave the veranda when I saw a mere silhouette walking by our house's gate. It stopped for a second and it seemed like it's trying to open the gate but failed. Thanks to the security system I built there.

But what's suspicious is that it's not even trying to hide itself from the dark, yet I couldn't get a clear picture of whom could it be. But I'm certain that it's a woman, with a long hair.
