Part Four: Desperate Times
Onboard the severely damaged Anacoda, Colonel Kellson sat in the mess hall with Lieutenant Colonel Brayans, Captain Timothy Kerrs, Captain Thomas Winter and several other officers and ate a bit of field rations.
Due to the constant attacks, Colonel Kellson gave orders for the Armory, and Auxillary Control to be manned at all times.
“Okay, we’re several light-years from the Alisans-Reers System.” Colonel Kellson commented to the others as he activated a portable holo-projector which showed the Anacoda’s current position. “Our present course will bring us near several Alcasian Military scanners installations, communication installations, and several bases.”
“Hopefully we’ll get some damned reinforcements and soon.” Captain Christens commented from a nearby table.
Captain Thomas Winter studied the damage report that pertained to Anacoda’s engineering section. In a nutshell, the report detailed the gravity of the situation. Basically the Anacoda had one foward thruster which still worked, and could only travel at Hyperlight 4 at the most.
Over on Alcasian Federal Military Base Sierra 899865-H, Commander Kerrason activated the holo-projector in the 15th level stellar observation room which showed the nearby ten planet Alisans-Reers Systems, and the dozens of Alcasian Federal Military Bases, Scanner Installations, along with several thousand Alcasian Federal Military starships, crusiers, and destroyers.
“Surprised that Kellson’s vessel has managed to last this long.” Commander Kerrason commented to himself as his XO entered the stellar observation room.
“Did I interrupt something, sir?” General Marcus inquired
“Not really.” Commander Kerrason responded. “Mostly likely Kellson is already aware of our forces in the area and has plans drawn up.”
“What plans, sir?” General Marcus inquired. “According to intercepted Video Audio Communication Screen transmissions between the Anacoda and Alcasian Republic Military Installations, the Anacoda is severely damaged thanks to our attacks. Kellson will be damned lucky if he managed to make it through this area of space without being captured or killed.”
Over the next twenty-four hours onboard the Anacoda, Colonel Kellson, Lieutenant Colonel Brayans, Captain Timothy Kerrs, Captain Thomas Winters, and the rest of the Anacoda’s officers and enlisted made preparations for more attacks from Alcasian Federal Military forces.
On Anacoda’s bridge, Lieutenant Tessans sat at the scanner control console which was salvaged from one of Anacoda’s transports and connected to the electrical power systems and kept an eye on the scanner display for any Alcasian Federal Military vessels. A few minutes later, several Alcasian Federal Military shuttles were detected by the Anacoda’s scanners in an attack formation. At the bridge weapon control console, Lieutenant Thomas noticed one of the AFM shuttle rapidly approach from their one o’ clock position.
“Enemy contact approaching from bearing zero-zero-nine, closing fast.” Lieutentant Tessans said as he continued to watch the scanner display. “I got a second contact, approaching from bearing two-niner-zero.”
Colonel Kellson who sat in the command chair gave orders for Lieutenant Thomas to enage the Acalisan Federal Military shuttles. Lieutenant Thomas obtained a weapons lock on one of the AFM shuttles and launched a missile at it. The missile found it’s way to the thermal signature of the shuttle’s thrusters and destroyed it. The second shuttle that approached the Anacoda from an eleven o’ clock position was also destroyed by another missile.
“Sir, new contacts approaching from bearing one-niner-three.” Lieutenant Tessan said to Colonel Kellson as he watched another Alcasian Federal Military shuttle explode a few thousand kilometers from the Anacoda. “According to the IFF system, they are Alcasia-class starships, crusiers, and destroyers. Judging by the numbers, a Combat Assault Taskforce.”
“Whose vessels are they?” Colonel Kellson inquired of Lieutenant Tessans.
“They’re our vessels, sir.” Lieutenant Tessans responded.
“The Adsasia is hailing us over an encrypted VACS frequency. Hopefully the communication transciever taken from one of our remaining shuttles and transports is functional.” Lieutenant Gersan commented as he rotated his chair around towards Kellson.
“Open a VACS channels to the Adsasia, Lieutenant.” Colonel Kellson responded.
“Adsasia to Anacoda, do you receive this tranmission, over.” Adsasia’s Bridge Communication Officer’s voice said over the VACS.
