Part Two: Hostilities Resume

“The Anacoda, but isn’t that a Alcasian Military vessel?” General Kerrans responded as the scanner display’s IFF system identified the former unknown vessel as the Anacoda and it showed up as small red oval. “Colonel, what do you think Kellson will do then?”

Colonel Gerabs proceeded to watch the transponder signal of the Anacoda, various civilian vessels and Alcasian Federal Military vessels in the nearby area as he pondered his response.

“Well, if I were Kellson.” Colonel Gerabs commented. “I’d do everything in my power not to draw attention to my vessel. Especially, behind the lines and cut off from reinforcements. I would even have my crew on alert and prepared for any possible engagements.”

Back onboard the Anacoda, Colonel Kellson brought up a three-dimensional holographic map of the Alnasis Sectors which displayed three-demensional representations of the nearby planets and Alcasian Federal Military bases, listening posts, communication facilities, and scanner installations. “Well, it looks like the Alcasian Federal Military might be tracking our vessel’s course.”

“Might be, or are tracking us?” Lieutenant Colonel Brayans responded as he studied the current course of the Anacoda.

“They have been tracking us.” Colonel Kellson responded in reference to the nearby Alcasian Federal Military installations. He proceeded to the intercom unit by the door controls in the CO’s office and activated it. “All personnel, this is the CO speaking. Alcasian Federal Military forces have been tracking us through this region of space. Standby to engage if necessary, Kellson out.”

On the Anacoda’s bridge, Lieutenant Jacob Tanns continued to scan the nearby area for any Alcasian Federal Military vessels. Suddenly three contacts appeared the scanner display screen.

“New contacts bearing zero-eight-eight, zero-one-zero, and zero-two-five, range 20 million kilometers and closing.” Lieutenant Jacobs Tanns said as he continued to watch the scanner display.

At this point, everyone on Anacoda’s bridge waited to see if the three Alcasian Federal Military destroyers would engage them or leave them along. Colonel Kellson took a seat in the command chair.

“Enemy vessels are closing in on us, sir.” Lieutenant Tanns told Colonel Kellson. “What are your orders?”

“Tanns, continue your scans for any more AFM vessels. Thomas, don’t open fire unless the AFM vessels attack first. Tessans, remain on course.” Colonel Kellson said to the others.

Throughout the Alcasia-class starship, the Anacoda’s officers and enlisted personnel proceeded to their respective battle stations in case the AFM vessels attacked the Anacoda. In the Amory located on top of the vessel, missiles and torpedeos were loaded into the forward launchers while the laser turrets were charged up. In sickbay, the Anacoda’s medical personnel prepared for any casualties.

Back at the nearby Alcasian Federal Military Scanner Installation located on the ouskirts of the Terrans System, Colonel Gerabs watched the 14 inch scanner display as it showed the three Alcasian Federal Military vessels approach the Anacoda. At this point, several others gathered around the scanner console. The question on everyone’s mind was this: Would they or the Anacoda attack first.

“This looks like a starring contest and the question is who will blink first?” Colonel Gerabs responded as the scanner display showed the three AFM destroyers, the Ascalia, the Errans, and the Lierras as they got closer to the Anacoda.

At this point, all Alcasian Federal Military installations were placed under Code Three Tactical Alert due to the likelyhood of an armed attack between the AFM destroyers Ascalia, Errans, Lerras and Anacoda. Onboard the Anacoda, Colonel Kellson placed the vessel on Code One Tactical Alert and had Lieutenant Thomas activated the weapon’s grid and shields.

Onboard the Anacoda, Lieutenant Thomas looked at the targeting display on the weapon control console which showed the Ascalia, the Errans, and Lerras as red triangles that closer and closer. Lieutenant Tessans who sat at the flight control console kept the Anacoda on its present course and waited for further orders.

Suddenly, a missile launched from the Lerras which approached from Anacoda’s two o’ clock position made it’s way towards the Anacoda.

“Missile inbound, bearing zero-two-five rapidly approaching.” Lieutenant Tessans said as he continued to watch the scanner display. “Second missile launched from the Lerras heading towards us.”

“Shall I return fire, sir?” Lieutenant Thomas inquired from weapon control.

Colonel Kellson gave the order for Lieutenant Thomas to return fire at the Alcasian Federal Military destroyer Lerras. In the Anacoda’s docking bay, the eight command crews boarded their respective shuttles and piloted them out into space. Once the shuttles and transports were out in space, Colonel Kellson gave orders for them to engage the Ascalia and the Errans.

“Kellson’s launched shuttles and transports and has returned fire on the Lerras.” Colonel Berabs said as the scanner display he stood in front of showed the defensive engagement by the Anacoda and it’s shuttles and transports.

“Did he attack first, or did we?” General Kerrans inquired of Colonel Berabs who watched the battle unfold in real-time.

“The Lerras launched missiles at the Anacoda and Kellson responded like any other CO would if attacked.” Colonel Gerabs responded.

General Kerrans immediately proceeded to open an encrypted VACS frequency to the Lerras and the image of Brigadier General Mark Tersran appeared on the Video Audio Communication Screen.

“Tersran, do you realize you’ve resumed hostilies between us and the Alcasian Republic?” General Kerrans commented in an authoritative tone of voice. At this point it was clear that war had resumed between the Alcasian Republic and Alcasian Federation.

Near the Assans System, the Anacoda continued it’s attack against the Lerras which managed to severely damage the engineering section, the docking bay and weapon’s systems. At the same time, the four shuttles and transports from the Anacoda continued their hit and run attacks against the Ascalia and the Errans which were destroyed minutes later.

Onboard the Anacoda’s bridge, Colonel Kellson decided to break VACS silence and inform Alcasia of the Alacasian Federal Military attack on his vessel. He proceeded to send an encrypted communique detailed the attack by the Acalsian Federal Military destroyer Lerras which prompted defensive action. The communique went up the chain of command from Commander Jerras, who commanded the 878765th Alcasian Military Combat Assault Fleet to President Acres.

On Alcasia, President John Acres read over the communique from Colonel Kellson that mentioned the fact that the Anacoda had been behind the lines for nearly six months and Kellson used neccesary force to defend those under his command. President Acres immeadiately contacted Commander Mark Terrans and Prime Minister John Acres via the Video Audio Communication Screen and their images appeared on screen.

“Well, it looks the war is back on again.” President John Acres said to Prime Minister Jack Vellas and Alcasian Military Chief of Staff Commander Mark Terrans.
