A Sweet Encounter

Callison was at the candy aisle. She had a favorite chocolate candy brand she loved eating. Her mother asked her to buy some of it for something she was baking. Being the good girl that she is, she accepted to run the errand.

The supermarket was crowded at the time. A lot of shoppers were going by the aisle she was on. She took the last pack of the chocolate candy on the shelf when someone grabbed it, too.

She saw the hand connecting to a body of a boy. The boy had the shiny blond hair she always wished she had. She expected him to have a cool and calm looking expression. But instead she was greeted with a look of death.

"Let go of my candy." He said as he glared at her.

"How about you let go, goldilocks?" Callison narrowed her eyebrows while tightening the grip on the pack of candy.

"Whatever." The boy released his grip and left, causing Callison to tumble backwards. She was about to bump into the shelf if not for a hand that tugged her forward.

"Sky!" Callison, who appeared to have known the dark-haired boy who had just saved her from shattering dozens of bottled candies, smiled.

Sky smiled back at her as he released his hold on her arm. He saw the pack of candy Callison had on her hand. "What's up with that, Cal? You tumbled back from taking a pack of candy?"

"Well, I had a little tug-of-war with this guy. I pulled too much, he let go, then bam. I bumped into you. Technically." Callison tucked a few strands of her black hair behind her ear.

"So, how's the Freshmen life so far?" Sky asked as he walked with Callison towards another aisle.

"Well, it already ended. I could've made some new friends but they all are too stuck up. How's your Sophomore life?"

"It's okay. It kinda sucks because we have different schools."

"Yeah. Well, hopefully, next school year would be okay." Callison sighed.

"So, are you up for anything this Saturday?" Sky asked all of a sudden.

"Yeah." The question made Callison stop walking. "My friends and I are up for some movies."

"How about Friday?"

"I'm good." She smiled.

"Okay, then I'll pick you up at 7." Sky said as he kissed Callison in the cheek and ran ahead. Callison stared at his running figure but he disappeared into the crowd.

Callison sighed. She was not disturbed by the fact that Sky kissed her in the cheek. She was rather disturbed of the fact that she had nothing good to wear on friday.

She decided to go to the counter and pay for the candy. That blond-haired boy earlier was very weird for her taste. He kept popping into her mind.

"Hello ma'am. Good morning." The young man behind the cash register greeted as he took the one candy pack Callison took. "Ma'am?"

"Good morning." Callison greeted back, seemingly distracted.

"Uh, are you sure you want to buy this ma'am? This is already crumpled and it's probably crushed." The cashier inspected.

"That's the last pack I saw earlier."

"Oh, we have a tons of boxes of this brand. I could get someone to-"

"I'll take three please." Callison said as she smiled. The young man then called a co-worker and asked to get the candies.

In no time, Callison went home on her bike with three packs of candies in the bike's basket.

"Wow. That goldilocks guy must've wanted the candy, too." She said to herself. "Now I feel guilty."

She suddenly stopped the bike and wondered. "I wonder where that guy is now."

Filled with non-sensical guilt, she rode her bike to the park. She dismounted and sat on a bench. She took a pack of candy and popped a piece on her mouth.

The park wasn't as crowded as the supermarket but it was still filled with people. The majority of them were gathering by the park stage where a band was performing.

She heard a very weird and coincidental song. Sugar, yes please. Would you come and bring it down on me?

Callison laughed, causing some people to look at her weirdly. She ate a few pieces of chocolate until she decided to stop eating. Just as she was about to leave, someone grabbed her arm.

"You didn't actually think that I'd let you go without me getting any candy, did you?" A certain blond smirked.

"Goldilocks." Callison said blankly.

"It's Charles." The boy said with a hint of annoyance.

"Charlie."

"Charles."

"Whatever goldilocks. Let go of my hand." Callison rolled her eyes.

"Candy. Now." Charlie reached out his hand.

"Wow. You really love candy, do you? Well, I bet goldilocks wouldn't like it if i didn't give him any."

"Well, Candy Thief. You ought to give me what's mine."

"It's my candy and besides, isn't Goldilocks the thief?" Callison crossed her arms.

"No, she just borrowed the meals of the three bears." Charlie defended.

"Isn't that what you call stealing?"

Charlie thought for a moment. "I saw it first."

"I took it first- you know what, fine. I suppose I could give you one."

Charlie rolled his eyes. Then he turned behind him. "Is that okay, Tyler?"

A boy emerged from behind the bench. He had a paper bag on his head. "That'll do. Let's get out of here, Max."

Charlie stood up, took a pack of candy, and walked away with the paper bag boy.

Callison sat there, dumbfounded.

"What the heck was that and why is he wearing a paper bag? Is he faceless or something?"

Charlie turned back slightly. "It was just a bet, Candy Girl."

With that, he continued walking and disappeared into the crowd, leaving Callison to think about their 'sweet' encounter while listening to the soft music being played throughout the park.

《《●◇●》》

So, Callison is a traditional French candy, made from a mix of oranges and almonds (I think. I'm not really sure, okay. If I'm wrong and accidently disrespected any of you, you have my deepest and sincerest apologies). Charlie was named after the boy from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (I really love that movie). I thought of naming the main characters out of sweet things because you know, this story is surrounded by sweets! Haha.

I figured I'd keep the first chapter short for some reason... meh.

The picture above is Charlie... :D
