《《●◇●》》
The following chapter is forever dedicated to my bestfriend, whose name I am not allowed to say. As I was writing this a few days back, she continually shouted "BL" at my ear. But I assure you, I did not write anything totally inappropriate. This is a romantic comedy story. Just so you know. Now read forth.
Btw, the pic over there is paper bag boy :D
《《●◇●》》Charlie rushed to find the boy with the paper bag. He was slowed down by the crowd but he did not let them stop him. He knew that his friend needed him and that somewhere, he's hiding his tears inside a paper bag.
Charlie thought of going to the boy's house. Where else would that guy go anyways? It was the most obvious place.
He jogged to his friend's house. Obviously, he was out of breath as he got there. The house was half a mile from the park.
The sun was already setting and it would get dark soon. Charlie didn't mind this and went ahead to knock on the door.
Nobody answered it. But Charlie was persistent. He kept knocking on the door while continously ringing the doorbell.
For a moment, Charlie heard a muffled sound from the door. As if someone was crying. Then, angered footsteps approached the door. It swung open, revealing a boy-probably around 17-with brown unkept hair and eyes red from crying. He wore a black sweatshirt and black pants. He was barefooted and can be distinguished as a miserable young man.
"So, the paper bag man has revealed his identity to the world." Charlie said joking, hoping that it would cheer his friend up.
"Shut up, Max." The boy wiped his eyes with his sleeves. "Dude, what kind of guy ditches his friend and plans on eating ice cream alone like some sad old dude who lost everything?" Charlie crossed his arms.
"Um... a sad old dude who lost everything?"
"Come on, Kevin. What the hell is wrong with you?" Charlie shoves Kevin lightly as he went inside the house.
The house was dark. A few lightbulbs were opened but the rest were turned off. Charlie headed for the living room which was just at the right side of the front door.
Charlie saw the leather sofa occupied by a piece of cloth, a pint of ice cream, a box of tissues, a paper bag, and a remote to the flatscreen tv opened to a dramatic movie."It's because I saw Callison, okay. It kinda bummed me out to see her different from how she used to be." Kevin sniffed as he took a seat on the carpeted floor.
"What is up with that Callison chick? It's the first time I've seen you like that since last year when we watched Titanic." Charlie sat on the leather sofa and began eating the ice cream.
"Hey, don't eat all of it." Kevin tried taking the ice cream but Charlie stopped him.
"I'll keep eating it until you tell me what the hell happened with Callison."
"Fine. Seriously, you're annoying."
Charlie lowered the volume of the tv as Kevin started talking.
"You already know how we met, right?" Kevin asked.
"Yeah, yeah. You were six. Chocolate candy. Blah blah blah, move on."
"I was seven then, okay. We became friends for a really long time."
"How long?"
"Will you stop interrupting?"
Charlie took a spoonful of ice cream.
"Ugh. Well, we were friends for 8 years. We were really close. But when she turned 14, she said that she liked me ever since I gave her a piece of chocolate. She said that she has never liked a guy besides me. At that time, I was practically inlove with someone else. I told her that I didn't like her more than a friend and that I like someone else. Her tears began to fall and then that's when I bursted, I guess. I told her that she was a crybaby and that she cries a lot so that's why I didn't like her and that no one would probably will."
"Wow, you're a jerk. Making a 14-year-old girl cry. Why'd you even say those stuff?"
"I don't know, man. I was pretty frustrated that day and I guess I just took it all out on her. When I realized what I said, I tried explaining but she just slapped me in the face and ran away."
"You deserved a lot more of suffering, bro."
"I know. I tried apologizing a few days after with that chocolate candy pack but she threw it to my face. She moved schools and never talked to me again for three years now."
"Man, you suck at talking to girls."
"I guess I'm hurting before and now because I lost the friend I used to be close with. Like all those 8 years filled with happy memories together all vanished because of the words I said. What hurts more is that I saw her tears. I'm a horrible human being, Max." Kevin burst into tears.
Charlie was saddened to see that his friend had to feel this. For other people, it might seem silly that Kevin feels this way but everyone will always have a day when they just break down and cry about everything.
"That's why I made you do that thing earlier. So that atleast I'd know that I'd never see her cry again." Kevin sniffed. "Give me my ice cream."
"Here you go." Charlie gave him the ice cream and another spoon.
Kevin began eating while crying and watching a dramatic show. "What the hell is that guy doing!? Don't do it, Ken!"
Charlie smirked as he saw this. Why was he watching this show, anyway?
"So, Kevin. What are you gonna do now?"
Kevin suddenly stopped eating and turned to Charlie. "I just seriously want Callison to be happy. I don't like seeing her all sad. It's okay even if she doesn't forgive me. I just want her not to be afraid to love someone again."
Charlie tried talking but he remembered his painful memory. The memory that made him afraid to love again.
Kevin doesn't seem to realize this. "I'm not gonna tell you the whole plan because you suck at acting."
"Obviously. I hate acting."
"All I'm saying is, if you accept, you should trust me."
"Shouldn't you be the one to trust me?" Charlie asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Dude, you know me when it comes to planning. I'm really random. I just want to know if you'll trust my randomness about this. Everything will work out fine, anyways."
"Can I think about this overnight? I have a bad feeling about this."
"Maximillion. Of course you can. It's just a matter of trust between two friends."
"I do trust you. But it's like I'm trying to ride the zip line and the cables might not be strong enough for me."
"That is the most idiotic and ironic sentence you ever made. And you're smarter than me." Kevin face-palmed.
"Come on, Kevin. You know what I mean."
"I know. I agree that you should think about it. Take your time. It's not like you owe me from taking a dive for you when we got scolded about you putting tartar sauce and ants in Lewis' bag."
"I'm gonna go sleep. Good night." Charlie's head contacted with a pillow and he snored instantly.
Kevin looked at Charlie guiltily. "Think it through, buddy. This might be the greatest mistake you'll ever make in your life."
He sighed as he took a blanket and covered Charlie's sleeping body. The warmth made Charlie smile a little. Making him mumble, "Sarah" in his sleep.
Kevin heard it and mentally kicked himself. He shouldn't make Charlie remember about the girl he lost a few years back.
He looked at Charlie one last time and then he went to his room upstairs.
