The Cold Juice-like Rain

Charlie and Callison reached the restaurant in no time. Charlie had no plan to stay-even if he made a deal with his friend-so he went ahead and hung by the park nearby.

It was still raining but it was only a faint drizzle. Still, he was soaked. He had tried his best to not get Callison wet from the rain which got him wet in the process. Still, he didn't complain.

Charlie sat on a wet bench as he saw the whole park illuminated by several street lamps which had a few raindrops on its metallic foundation.

He didn't mind his wet clothes. What he did mind was what Callison had said to him.

"I don't know if Sky and I were meant to be together." Callison sighed. "I just don't want to get my heart broken again."

"I get the feeling that there's more to what happened before than what Kevin explained." Charlie said to himself. "It's not only Kevin acting like a brat. I think he said something far more worse than what he told me."

Utterly confused, Charlie closed his eyes and took a nap. Seconds later, he opened his eyes again. Realizing that he should look out for Callison, he stood up and felt the raindrops fall in his face as he looked at the night sky.

Disregarding a thought, he walked back to where the restaurant was. Through the glass-paneled windows, he saw Callison looking at her phone.

She had no one with her.

Callison had said that Sky would pick her up at 7 but she left because her brother's girlfriend was there. She sent a message to him but it's been an hour.

Gathering up all the courage he could muster, he opened the door and entered the restaurant.

Callison saw him at once. She looked up from her phone and Charlie noticed her watery eyes as if she was on the verge of crying.

"What are you doing here?" Callison asked as he took a seat. "What if Sky sees you?"

Charlie rolled his eyes. "Dude. You're waiting for an hour now. Has he replied to your text?"

"Well- maybe something's wrong and he was late." Callison defended.

"For an hour? Without calling you?" Callison looked down. "Wait. Don't tell me this happened before..."

Callison looked at him with sad eyes.

"It did happen before, didn't it?" Charlie connected the dots.

"It did. A couple of times. I'm just..." Callison's voice quivered. It seemed as if she was about cry.

"Hey." Charlie found himself standing. "Let's ditch this restaurant."

"In the rain?" Callison asked as she sniffed.

"Yeah. In the rain." Charlie grinned.

"I dunno." Callison crossed her arms. "I just saw you a few days ago. And we haven't properly introduced ourselves to each other... you could be an axe murderer."

"An axe murderer? Seriously?" Charlie smirked.

"Besides, Sky could come and I'm not here. I can't risk that."

With him realizing that he just made a complete fool of himself by standing up in a restaurant with couples sitting down, he sunk back to his seat.

"Fine. We'll wait for him then?" Charlie crossed his arms, imitating Callison.

"We? What are you talking about?" Callison asked, obviously surprised.

"We'll wait for Sky." Charlie repeated his statement as he rolled his eyes.
