I was brushing my hair after my shower when my phone started ringing. I walked over and looked at the caller ID.
I was surprised to see that it was my older brother, Noah, calling. We have talked and kept in touch, but he was just surprising, because he was calling at 6 am.
"Talk to me," I said.
"Kate!! Oh my gosh... Oh my gosh..," he said with a trembling voice.
"Noah, chill.. relax and tell mama...," I said jokingly.
"Okay.. okay.. I met this guy..," he said with a pause.
"What!! You met a guy and haven't told me anything about it!!???," I said furiously.
"Wait.. I have more news..," he said.
"We met at our college..," he continued but was cut off.
"Wait.. you went to college? How is that? You didn't ask even a penny from mom and dad..," I asked.
"Just shut up and let me finish..," he said.
"Bitch..," I muttered to myself.
"I heard that..," he said.
"Are you going to tell me the rest or what?" I asked eagerly.
"Okay.. So, we met at college, and I was having trouble navigating my way around. So, he decided to help me and show me around. We ended up being roommates and then we became close friends. Then, best friends. Then, boyfriends. Then, fiancés..." he paused again knowing that I will freak out.
"What! Oh my God! Why are you always getting the relationships and I'm not??!!?? I'm freaking 18! I'm gonna grow old alone! Argh....," I complained.
"Hahahahah.... You'll find Mr. Right anytime soon..," he said.
"So, is there any other reason why you called?," I asked.
"Umm.. yeah.. um.. I'm bringing someone special home," he said.
"Is he your fiancé?" Wiggling my eyes even if I know that he can't see me.
"Yeah," he said.
"Wait.., home... as in here home?" I asked.
"Yeah, is there a problem?" He asked.
"No.., it's just.., I haven't seen you since you left, and I really miss you," starting to sob softly.
"Katelyn.. stop crying.. I can hear you..," he said.
I started sobbing some more ignoring what he just said.
"Hey.., I'll be arriving tomorrow..," he said sounding like a parent trying to cheer up a child.
I stopped crying and replied, "Really you are?" I said like a hopeful child.
"Yes I am.. Now stop crying.. You'll continue to drive them boys away," he said jokingly.
"Shut up.. Don't rub it in," I said.
"Listen, Kate.. I gotta go. I'll call you back when I get there okay?" He said.
"Okay.. Love you Noah," I said.
"Love you too little sis," he said then hanged up.
