Light filtered through Jake's bedroom window, and he groaned as he sleepily covered his face with the blanket. "Good morning, sunshine," I said with a giggle as I walked back into his room after brushing my teeth and getting dressed. He pulled the blanket down just enough to peek over the top to glare at me playfully. I leaned in and kissed his forehead. He winced at the bright light as I pulled away, so I mercifully strolled over to close the curtains a little more.

"Morning, love," he rasped as he rolled over to face me with a forced smile. "I'm sorry for being so whiney last night.." he said softly as I padded back towards him, sitting down on the edge of the bed beside him.

"Please don't ever apologize for telling me how you feel, Jake," I replied as I gently caressed his face, tilting his chin up. "I liked seeing you so open and vulnerable," I admitted softly before pausing a few millimeters away from his lips. "You should go shower and brush your teeth while I make breakfast," I whispered in a half teasing tone, remembering how sick he had gotten last night. He snorted a laugh as I kissed the tip of his nose and stood up, stretching before grabbing my phone off the nightstand and heading towards the kitchen.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to make for breakfast, but when I opened the fridge, I found a can of cinnamon rolls. I grabbed a round cake pan from the cabinet and arranged the rolls inside while the oven preheated.

Once they were in the oven baking, I began cutting up some strawberries and pineapple to place them in a bowl with some blueberries and grapes. I checked my phone for the third time hoping to see a text from Sam, but there was nothing.

"Mmmm what smells so good?" Jake asked as he walked into the kitchen still looking sleepy. I panicked a little, realizing I had forgotten to set a timer. I ran over to the oven and pulled the pan out, breathing a sigh of relief when they weren't burnt to a crisp.

"Just some cinnamon rolls," I said with a smile as I spread the icing on top.

"I love you, Quinn," he beamed as he poured us each a glass of orange juice before we sat down together to eat.

"I love you, too," I replied with a smile, gently squeezing his leg under the table. "You wanna tell me how chaotic Kiszka Christmas will be?" I giggled as I asked. He bubbled with laughter, covering his face with his hands.

"Oh you're in for it, love," he replied with a smirk that made me want to melt into the floor. "We usually have a gingerbread house competition, maybe a snowball fight depending on the weather, then hot chocolate and a movie marathon," he explained while stroking his chin thoughtfully.

"That sounds like so much fun! I'm just worried your family won't like me.." I replied nervously before taking another bite of breakfast.

"They'll love you, babe! Mom has been dying to meet you," he admitted way too casually to not send me into a panic.

"Your mom knows about me?" I squeaked nervously, trying to ignore the heat rushing to my face. It hadn't even occurred to me that their mom would even know I exist, let alone want to meet me.

"Obviously, love," he giggled as he leaned in to kiss me gently. Obviously. It was not obvious to me, but it did make me feel a little less nervous about going there in a few weeks.

We spent the rest of the morning together, but I knew I needed to head home soon. I still hadn't heard from Sammy, but we were supposed to have plans this afternoon. Jake and I said our goodbyes and I caught an Uber home.

I felt my nerves fluttering as I walked up the stairs to my apartment. I felt a little unsure since I hadn't talked to Sam all morning, but I was excited to see him and go on our date.
