So before we get started I just wanted to say someone added my stories to their reading list and I quote "stories with good ass smut" I found that quite hilarious anyways on with plot.
Battle after battle I was beginning to feel worn down. Not physically, whatever happened when I came to this world seemed to give me absurd durability and stamina, but mentally and I suppose spiritually I was getting worn out by all the fighting... all the death. To be fair I don't most people wouldn't be worn down by war after seeing children turned into living fire bombs.
But at the same time this battle was all I really knew of this world. I couldn't go back to the Ark or see my sister and I didn't have anyone here so I suppose I was all alone aside from whatever soldiers would fight under me. They were swapped out regularly however so I couldn't even grow close to them.
And then the time finally came to face the strongest man in Gehna. Lucian the blade master. From what the soldiers tell me he just randomly appeared in Gehna roughly 20 years ago and worked his way up their ranks. With his power I wonder if he's in a similar situation as I am. Although that name is suspiciously the same as one of the Ark captains. But the years didn't line up if he arrived here 2 decades ago there's no way he could have been a part of the Noah.
But in my thoughts I didn't realize it immediately but we were in a wide open field. The ideal spot for battle but a terrible spot for cover.
Then I noticed the storm clouds as it became to rain pouring down on us and adding noise pollution to the area making a possible ambush all the more dangerous.
The rain got worse as thunder began to roll and I could see men getting soaked. But before we could pack it in for the day lightning struck down right in front of us and as luck would have it the lightning was a cover for Lucian to appear.
"So you're the hero of Lux." He said indifferently
I drew my blade ready to strike but felt oddly compelled to answer him.
"Yes. That would be me." I had to speak up between my helmet and the rain my voice would be muffled otherwise.
"Well thank you for answering. I have a proposition for you." He surprised me with the words he spoke.
"What sort of proposition" I asked my blade still at the ready
"Fight me in one on one combat. We both know that is what this battle will inevitably devolve into and I see no reason to throw our soldiers lives away. Do you agree?" He asked
I paused for a moment. Logic would dictate this is a trap but I sensed no deception in his words so against my better judgement I nodded in agreement.
Both of us gave our orders for our men to fall back where it was just the two of us in the stormy field.
"Before we begin I'd like to ask you a question." He spoke
"Only if you answer one of mine in return." I responded as there was something bothering me about him.
"Very well. Then I'll ask first. What is your real name Hero?" He spoke
I wasn't expecting the question but felt no reason to give a false answer.
"My name is Caius. Caius Alans." I answered honestly
I couldn't see his face but I noticed a slight change in body language.
"I see. Very well Caius I'll be sure to remember your name. Now ask your question."
"Very well. Where were you from before you came to Gehna?"
He said nothing for a moment before moving his hand to his sword.
"I apologize but I'm afraid I have no memories of my life before arriving in Gehna. Now then I see no further reason to delay this battle."
