Chapter 41.5 a day at School

So yeah these scenes were originally going to be part of the previous chapter however it was already getting long winded and these scenes didn't really fit with the rest of the chapter. So here's chapter 41.5

"And that's why the four titans are so important. As they are representative of the four basic elements. Meanwhile the lost Titan was believed to represent sub elements and various fusions." Mother or 'Professor Lisia' as she wanted us to call her stated.

We were learning about the four titans again but now instead of covering the basics like their names we were tying together how they were related to magic. Each of the four base elemental symbols were based off of a mark found on the four titans. Unfortunately with the 5th Titan destroyed it was practically erased from existence with the only thing remaining being magical outliers.

"Say Professor Lisia." Natalie Rose her hand to ask a question.

"Yes Natalie?"

"What about light and darkness... or perhaps some unusual elements like time and space?" The green haired princess said.

"Well I'm glad you asked dear. You see some elements are not tied to any titans found within our realm... that's because there are beings that exist in the realm of god. The dragon Eos holds all the almighty Elements but due to him staying in the realm of god rather than our world there's so little of it out there. That's why Lily is one of the only people on the continent with an affinity for healing magic." She explained while doing the I know everything pose with her fake glasses that blocked out her eyes with a reflection...

Did she read Sophie's comics at some point?

"That being said despite being more offhand Eos did play a part in our worlds creation. So traces of his magic still exist in this world and that's why with training people can still learn time magic as well as others. It's just that most people will struggle with spells that aren't their own affinity."

"And uhhh... what about Darkness Professor"

Ohhhh so that's why she asked.

Even though Natalie had been with us for Many months she refused to use her magic unless absolutely necessary. She hated her own element being dark and since she never practiced with it she never improved with other elements either.

"Darkness is believed to represent Absence. Or a lack of anything else being present sort of like how Black itself isn't technically a color but a lack of all colors on the spectrum. For many years it was thought that a person with dark element couldn't use other elements..." she paused looking at me.

We both thought back to that time I... said some less than nice things to her then collapsed the ceiling on her.

I didn't say anything but gave her a small nod to continue her sentence.

"However that theory has been brought into question after events that happened four years ago. Also Natalie."

"Yes Ma'am!"

"Your magic is not evil. Neither is it good. It's simply a tool you have at your disposal. I can't force you to hone your skills but don't be ashamed of them. No one in this castle will judge someone simply for possessing dark magic. I'll let you look in your recent history notes to figure out why that is... think of it as a extra credit homework assignment. Except for Lilian and Sophie they're already familiar with the reason... and no you're not allowed to ask them for help either." She smirked

"Now anymore questions before class concludes?" She asked looking at us

"Yes Simon." I turned around to see the blonde mute raising his hand.

I guess he could technically communicate through Francesca but instead he chose to write on a board and showed it to mom.

HOW DO YOU KNOW SO MUCH ABOUT EOS PROFESSOR?

"Ah excellent question Simon. That's because I've met him and spoken with him directly." She said with a grin on her face like it was the most normal thing.

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT?!?!?"

Everyone was surprised by that nugget of wisdom and here we were outside having our lunch before training.

Lyric sat down with Tia as usual. Natalie had started sticking with Simon and Francesca. But given Frans personality that meant she'd often go and bug Tia with and drag her group along.

Sophie would sometimes sit with them or sit on her own usually just reading a comic or being on guard.

Since we had the instructors and Retainers present she was just reading today but I noticed her knife hidden in her shoe.

But that just left two people out of the conversation.

"Quite the lively ones aren't they?" I looked up to see the familiar tanned skin boy I'd known for well over a year now.

"Hi Escher."

"Hello Lily. How are you doing?"

"Overall fine but still surprised by that whole Mom speaking with Gods personal dragon. Thing"

"Ha. Yeah that was surprising but I wish you'd seen Tia's face her jaw was practically on the table." He said chuckling at the memory

I pictured it and I started to giggle as well.

After a moment we both sat together in relative silence eating our food.

But there was something I wished to ask him.

"Hey Escher... can I ask you a personal question?" I said in a bit of a nervous voice

"Go for it." He seemed unfazed.

"You're not... Gehnan are you? At least not entirely." I said. Honestly I felt kinda guilty saying it that way.

"Dark skin give it away?" he replied

"Uhhh... yeah"

"Well ya got me. Mom was some Exotic beauty. Probably would've just been a bastard kid but given Gehna was lacking nobles I guess he decided to Marry her so I got to be the official Heir of House Emmery... that being said I'm Gehnan raised so I couldn't tell you much else... any reason for asking?"

"Well. I was just wondering if you knew where your mother was from since I don't know anything about the world outside of Gehna."

"Ah gotcha... well it was somewhere around where the Earth Titan was said to be. Westax was it's name I think."

"Oh yeah that one... hey Escher. Wanna go there with me someday?" I asked him a bit nervously

"Sure... sounds good."

And we returned to eating in silence.

Aaaand that's the chapter hope you enjoyed. We're actually starting to get closer and closer to the 1 year anniversary of this story beginning. I wanted to say thank you for sticking around this far.

May be a bit before then next chapter comes out I recently got myself a Kitty so I've been having to take care of him.
