Chapter 29: Doctor Lilian

"*yawn* good evening everyone." I greeted the others as I entered the guest room.

Well actually it was moreso a secure room room and was probably the safest part of the castle right now.

Everything was still a mess and lord knows how things would be when the soldiers returned so I figured it was best to just grab a sleeping bag and doze off.

"Oh princess... why are you in the guest room surely your own bed would be better." A maid said wondering why I would enter a not very lavish room of the castle

"Didn't feel right." I responded quickly taking a purple bag and laying it beside Sophie's, I could tell because she had one of her comics next to it

As I lay down I could feel my eyelids growing heavy and getting ready to sleep when I heard the others arrive.

"I'm just surprised the baths were untouched"
The first voice spoke it sounded more mature than the others so I suppose it was Larentia

"Well I'm surprised little miss Duchess to be and the dagger maid here and dagger maid were both comic book nerds." A younger girl voice said. I guess that was Francesca

Wait did that mean someone other than Sophie was obsessed with comics? What are the odds

"It's a simple hobby to pass the time." Tia said in a somewhat embarrassed tone of voice.

"What about you Sophie. What's the deal between you and the princess?" Fran asked

I was tired but decided to try and listen closely

"It's a long story"

"We've got time."

Sophie seemed to be aware of my presence despite the dark room and decided to hold her tongue.

"Well you may have time but clearly lack proper awareness." Sophie remarked as the others now became aware of my sleeping body.

"Heheh... looks like she couldn't be away from her big sis for long... oh but I guess Lyric is no different." I could hear Fran Giggling while I couldn't see what was going on I figured he did the same thing I did choosing to sleep next to Larentia.

"Well what about you Fran. Aside from the baths you've been attached to the hip of Simon all the time." Tia fired back

I heard a rustling sound next to me. Then the turning of some pages. Sophie didn't say anything to me but she simply lied down beside me and began to read her comics.

But unfortunately or fortunately perhaps. The banter was continuing.

"Gah... Simon, Escher, Contribute to the conversation."

...

"Oh right you can't talk." I heard Fran deadpan

"Uhhhh I'm an only child so I suppose that makes me the normal boring one of the group." Escher eventually spoke up

"So then Fran why did you forget your own brother can't talk?"

"Oh we're twins. Ya know telepathic communication and all that." She said as if it was the most normal thing in the world

"Families sure are something huh." Escher once again broke the awkward silence

For some reason I smiled to myself upon hearing those words.

Families sure are something.

A few hours later I woke up.

The sun was only just beginning to rise but I decided to get up and stretch for a moment and was greeted by Simon and Escher both awake and currently playing cards.
