"Hello girls, what can I help you with today?" The secretary asked politely.
"This is Daisy." Max stepped a little bit away from me.
"I'm Daisy," I added. "I'm new."
"Oh, do you have a last name?" She asked.
"Uh, Harrington," I muttered.
"Ah yes, your brother called you in this morning." She turned to a very boxy computer, clicking a few keys and scrolling for what seemed like hours with her mouse. "Alright, we've just got to print your schedule and a map and send you off." She smiled. "You're already enrolled, so it's a very simple process for now."
"Cool."
She slowly stood up and waddled to the large printer in the corner of the room. Two sheets of paper were printed, and fell onto the floor, thanks to the broken tray. The woman took her time picking them up, adjusting her glasses as the first bell rang.
Max glanced at me. "Uh, I gotta go." She pointed to the door behind her.
"Yeah, don't be late," I said back.
"Thanks." She replied, exiting the room.
"Ah, you've got Mr. Clarke for homeroom." She nodded. "You'll like him. He's a science teacher."
"Interesting." I formed my lips to a line, holding out my hand for the papers.
"Sorry, here you go." She placed them in my hand, her old one shaking.
"Thanks." I turned around and left the office as soon as I could, not allowing her to get one step before the door slammed shut.
My schedule was just a list of teachers' names and their room numbers, and the map didn't have room numbers labeled. It literally just had the physical room outlines, and the wings labeled. I tried my best to orient myself at the main entrance, then locate the science wing from there.
I found it, following some punk guy talking about having to go to Mr. Clarke's for an assignment. Soon enough, I found myself in the correct room.
The now-familiar bowl cut Will was sitting in a chair near the window, like the main character he probably is.
I located a seat far across the room right before a man dressed in a sweater vest with a very large mustache walked in. He immediately found me.
"Daisy?" He asked.
I nodded.
"Wonderful!" He walked to my desk with a folder in his hand. "I assume you already have your schedule?"
"Yep."
"Perfect! Now if we just wait-" As if on cue, the second bell rang. "As I was saying, if we just wait for the second bell, you can introduce yourself to the class."
"Now?"
"Yeah, sure." He clapped his hands, immediately raising his voice. "Everyone listen up, this is Daisy Harrington, our new student."
One boy in the back scoffed. "Doesn't look nearly as good as her brother."
"Peter." Mr. Clarke groaned. "Stop interrupting." He paused. "As I was saying, this is Daisy Harrington. Daisy, please introduce yourself."
I frowned. "I'm Daisy Harrington, and I'm introducing myself."
"How about a fun fact?"
"I'm introducing myself?" I asked. "That's a fact."
"No, a fun fact. That's not fun." The man protested.
I raised my eyebrows.
"Where are you from?"
