Jace scoff right after he came back was louder than intended. Ryan looked away and lighted a cigar. He was already having enough torture from Rye who wasn't talking to him. Rye was distant. In as much as he didn't want to care, he still couldn't help it.

Meanwhile, Jace was restless, he needed to talk and he did.

"I thought you said you met your mate Ryan?"

Ryan paused. He probably wanted to tell him to fuck off or something but that would mean him closing up again so he nodded.

"And?"

"She's human"

Ryan's answer was quick. They watched the smoke from the cigar vanish into thin air. For a moment, Jace had nothing to say. He knew the joy he had when he met Emma, his mate. It wasn't something he could control. From the corners of his sight, Ryan watched Jace, he was staring out through the porthole and though he had his walls up this time, Ryan could very much guess what he was thinking. He looked away and puffed a smoke.

"She's your mate Ryan. You can't change that"

Jace came again.

He wish he could. He wish he could hate her but he didn't. History wasn't going to repeat himself not with him. He will probably find a surrogate or something but again, the child might not have the alpha traits. Ryan sighed. So much for having an alpha child.

Jace turned his look to Ryan who had his eyes fixed at the window, he seemed to be battling with himself. He probably wanted to say more, but he didn't. Instead, he dressed himself on the couch and crossed his legs, the loud music playing in his ears. It wouldn't be bad if he catched some sleep, a little rest away from the bustle of having to follow an arrogant alpha everyday of his life.

It was the flight attendant waking Jace up an hour later, he glanced at where Ryan had sat earlier and the seat was empty. He rubbed his neck and reluctantly sat up.

"Where is he?"

"In the car waiting for you"

Jace hissed, a slow pained one. He stood up and walked down the airstair. He stared at the convoy, wondering which of them the bastard might have entered. Jace frowned, was he really going to ask which of these cars his boss was in?...Maybe. But before he could go any further, the door to the Rolls Royce opened. He stopped wondering why he didn't think of that. His alpha was a fan of Rolls and Royces, if that means anything.

"I really didn't want to bother your sleep"

Ryan said. He watched him settle into the seat beside him and the drive begun.

"I was wondering why you didn't bring the flight attendant along, she seemed really good at what she does"

Ryan looked through the tinted window with a grim

"If this is you trying to put me off Jace then nice try. Pass me the papers"

Jace escaped a breath as he opened the jackpack and brought out the construction documents. He watched Ryan go through each paper, he really didn't know why his dad needed another hotel site in the same city. One was enough.

"I think this has to do with the Montarios that recently started the site building of another of their branch"

Of course, Ryan had not said a thing but his creased eyebrows had said it all. Jace knew him too well to know what he was in support of and what he wasn't.

Ryan scoffed, he was always locked up in the four walls of his study room and yet knew every damn thing. He never stopped amazing him though.

Minutes later, Jace phone rung
