I pressed my tongue to the side of my cheek.
The second I looked back at Mr. Moon I already made up my mind.
"If you'll excuse me. I should get back to Taehyung."
He nodded, raising an eyebrow as he did.
"Of course. I know how he can be."
I didn't know what he meant by that. At the moment I didn't really care. I got up rather quickly, snatching my glass off the table before shoving my way through the crowd to find Taehyung.
I found him walking through the hallway, heading towards the living room. I glanced behind me. Mr. Moon was following me. I quickened my pace toward Taehyung. I glanced behind me again. Mr. Moon was even closer. My heart rate increased.
Taehyung was just about to enter the living room. Panicked, I reached my fingers just far enough to grab a fistful of the fabric of the back of his blouse. He stumbled slightly as I pulled myself closer to him. I glanced behind me again, looking for Mr. Moon., I couldn't locate him.
I turned around. I wish I hadn't. Looking me directly in the eyes was Taehyung. I quickly released the back of his shirt, letting out a nervous chuckle.
"Sorry about that." I choked out. Taehyung glanced behind me like he was trying to figure out what I kept looking at. I cleared my throat. Before I could let out another word he beat me to it.
"I didn't think you would come to a party like this."
I opened my mouth again to explain myself, getting cut off once again. Taehyung's gaze looked me up and down.
"You look nice." He simply said. Oh. What now? What was I supposed to answer with? Since when did I have to think of something to respond with?
Since when did Taehyung have a voice? Shouldn't he be angry? Was he angry? Was he just playing husband because we were in public? The questions didn't stop. I knew I needed to respond in the next few seconds or else I was about to look really stupid.
"You're welcome."
I facepalmed. Am I fucking stupid?
"No I meant- like thank you- I was trying to say you too. Like when - if you just...like- just put the two together. I was saying thank you too."
I wanted to kill myself. No. I was going to kill myself. He smiled. I blinked. He was smiling. Since when did Taehyung have teeth? Since when did he have actual facial expressions?
He's acting. He has to be. No one just changes, especially when he has a husband who just orally fucked someone in his office.
I gulped. I took a sip of my champagne. I looked for the nearest window. I didn't care if I was only on the first floor. I was this close to throwing myself out of a window like a rag doll.
Taehyung clinked his glass with mine. He sipped his glass, composed of wine instead of champagne. He took a step closer to me, bringing his lips centimeters from my ear.
"Let's talk a little later." He whispered. I swallowed. Hard. I chuckled nervously. His voice sent a shiver down my spine. He pulled away. The words slipped from my lips before I could stop them. The intrusive thoughts taking over.
"Haha, yeah lets not do that." I laughed nervously. If there was an award for stupidity I would have won it by a mile. Taehyung raised his eyebrows almost like he himself wasn't sure how to respond to that.
Why? Because no one says shit as stupid as I do. He looked in the distance almost like he was searching for some way of seeing the world from my perspective.
