"Jungkookie~"
"Jung-kook. Jun-gkook. Ju-ngkook~" A woman sang. My eyes fluttered open. I stared blankly in the distance, my vision gauzy. My nose hairs twitched at a sweet scent. My eyes squinted as I looked up to focus on the woman standing behind me.
Mrs. Uim stood there with a wide smile, a long thin burning stick of sage between her fingers. The thin stream of smoke twirled around flawlessly as she waved the burning plant in front of my nose.
"How are you doing, sweetheart?" She asked softly. My head was turned entirely to the left, resting on a hard flat surface. I lifted my face slowly, an immediate wave of excruciating pain throbbing in my neck.
Sounds of agony released from my lips, creating a sudden panic from Mrs. Uim. She rushed to wrap her arms around my chest, aiding me to sit up straight.
I turned my neck side to side, trying to find relief in stretching the muscles.
"Fuck." I muttered under my breath. Seconds after I found slight relief in my neck the pins and needles began to plunge into the flesh of my brain. I gently pressed my thumb and index finger to my temple. Mrs. Uim gently rubbed circles into my back.
"What's with the sage?" I croaked.
"It's a healing plant. I heard it improves intuition and overall body health. I thought it might help flush out all those man-made substances from hell."
I hummed, a short chuckle producing from the back of my throat, my brain couldn't produce a proper response. Mrs. Uim only needed to read my expression to see the pain I was going through.
"Want me to make you some herbal tea?"
I nodded shortly, sending her off with a smile. Without another word she gently rolled her fingers off my shoulders, heading towards the kitchen with swift, graceful steps. I took in a deep breath, the thick scent of sage filling my lungs.
I turned my head slowly to observe my surroundings. I was still in the dining room, seated in the exact place I was last night. The dining room was empty, one of the large tables disappeared entirely, the room almost returned completely to its original state.
The table I was seated at was almost entirely cleared off, the wood wiped off and oiled to perfection. The only area that was still scattered with empty plates and glasses was the place I had been laying a moment before.
If I had to guess they left this area alone in order to avoid waking me up. Based on the ridiculous hangover I was struggling with they probably could have thrown me out of an airplane I still wouldn't of woken up.
I glanced at the clock. 12:47 p.m. I pressed my shoulders back into the wood of the chair, my lower back making satisfying cracks that followed through the nerves along my spine. Mrs. Uim came waddling back out with careful steps, a full tea cup in her hands.
"Here you go." She said gently. I smiled warmly at her. I rubbed the back up my neck, turning it side to side one more time before sitting up straight to drink the tea. She pulled a chair out next to me. She rested her head on the palm of her hand, gazing up at me as I began to sip the bitter tea.
"Feel better?"
I nodded.
"Thank goodness for Mr. Kim or who knows what could have happened."
I squinted my eyes in confusion.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, setting the tea cup down to gaze in her eyes.
"Well, last night you drank quite a bit. I asked Mr. Kim if It'd be better to escort you out but he offered to keep watch."
"Keep watch? Keep watch for what?"
