She lay curled up in a ball on her bed, hugging her pillow to her chest as stared blankly at her bedroom wall. She rolled onto her back, covering her face with the pillow as she a heavy sigh escaped her lips.
"What the fuck is wrong with me?" She asked herself out loud, swiftly sitting up in her bed before tossing her pillow aside. Usually at a time like this Meadow would put on a show for her watchers just to feel something other than emptiness. But right now she has no energy to do it. She pulled her knees to her chest as she covered her face with her hands before being interrupted by the sound of her phone vibrating on her desk. She dived to her feet, almost falling over as she grabbed her phone from her desk to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Honey, it's me." Her mom replied happily. Meadow slumped down with a sigh from hearing her mom's voice. She grabbed the edge of her desk as she sat down on her floor with her back leaning against it.
"What is it mom?" Meadow asked with a heavy sigh, pulling her knees to her chest for comfort. She could feel her mom roll her eyes through the phone from her question.
"Less attitude please, I was just calling to ask if you're coming to the big summer BBQ with Declan next weekend." Her mom queried. Meadow threw her head back, shaking her head slightly at her mom's question. The BBQ for her parents company sponsors had completely slipped her mind lately.
"I- sure mom, we'll be there.." Meadow hesitated, rubbing her temple gently. Her mom let out a brief chuckle. Meadow narrowed her brows in a frown as she listened to her.
"I'll put you both on the list, see you then." She replied before hanging up. She didn't get a chance to say a word before she heard the phone call end. She threw her phone onto her bed, watching it bounce as she fell onto her side, curling into a fetal position.
She groaned slightly as she unrolled from the position she was in. Her neck felt sore from laying in that position for a long time. She yawned as she crawled to her bed before getting to her feet again. She reached for her phone, turning it on to check the time. 20 unread messages Nicole. 1 missed call Declan. She exhaled deeply as she turned it back over so the screen was facing her bed. She buried her face into her sheets, grabbing them in her fists as she screams for a moment before taking a breath again and lifting her head up from her bed. She slumped on the floor, running circles round her sheets with her finger before exhaling deeply through her nose as she climbed to her feet. She quickly began to get dressed into the first outfit her focus went to. She threw open her door as she threw her mini backpack onto her shoulders as she stormed towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Her roommate asked. Meadow didn't have time to answer her as she hurried out the door. Her roommate blinked repeatedly at her as the door slammed closed behind her.
Meadow took a quick glance down at her phone as she walked under the dim street lights. She began to approach the outside of a bar. She could hear the music blasting from outside, she adjusted the straps on her shoulders as she made her way inside, taking a quick glance round for an empty seat. This wasn't her usual environment, this type of environment makes her feel anxious so she felt out of place among everyone else. She looked towards the bar were there was a tall tattooed woman with messy short hair standing behind it cleaning glasses. She looked across the stools for an empty seat as she suddenly saw a space next to a woman chatting happily to the woman behind the bar. She scooped her skirt under her as she climbed onto the stool, sliding off her backpack as she placed it on her thighs. She looked the woman behind the bar, she was too anxious to wave her over so she looked her up and down in hopes of getting her attention. The woman turned her head as she smiled over at Meadow before approaching her. She placed the glass down gently in the sink, her palms pressed against the bar as she leans forward.
