"I don't wanna do this Heid.." Meadow complained as she sighed heavily, rubbing her temple gently. She threw herself back onto the bed as she looked up at her ceiling.
"You'll be back home tomorrow and to make up for my 2 days alone we can watch Ghibli movies and order pizza!" Heidi reassured her happily before taking a bite of her bagel. Meadow sat up slightly in her bed.
"I guarantee you haven't been alone since I've been gone." Meadow assumed as Heidi paused for a moment before chuckling nervously.
"Alright! You've caught me! Just because I'm single doesn't mean I can't have a lil fun, you know I enjoy best of both worlds!" Heidi chuckled as she put her bagel down. Meadow sat on the edge of her bed, nervously tugging at her jeans as she sat in silence for a moment.
"I...I think I might also too.." She stuttered nervously. Heidi choked on a crumb of her bagel, coughing repeatedly before smiling happily.
"No way! Congrats dude!" Heidi cheered down the phone, almost diving out her seat with joy.
"I'm not 100% sure yet but I think I might like a...friend of mine.." Meadow stuttered nervously as a soft blush appeared on her cheeks. Heidi slowly lowered herself back into her chair.
"The girl that helped you home?" She asked curiously, leaning back in her chair.
"What!? No! Well..I don't know!" Meadow stuttered in a panic before listening to Heidi chuckle back at her in response.
"I figured as much, she's hot!" Heidi teased as Meadow rolled her eyes playfully in response. She turned to the sound of high heels tapping against the floor coming towards her room.
"Gotta go, text ya later."
"Alright, love ya!" Heidi said happily as she finished the final bite of her bagel.
"Lova ya too!" Meadow replied happily before hanging up as her mom opened the bedroom door and welcomed herself inside, heading straight for her closet. Meadow frowned slightly as she watched the doors fly open.
"Can I help you?"
"I'm picking out your outfit for the meal." Her mom sighed back as she looked in disappointment at the clothes hanging in her closet. Meadow groaned as she rested her elbow on her lap before placing her chin on the palm of her hand.
"I'm 23! I can pick my own clothes!" Meadow snapped back before suddenly hiding her face, realising the look on her mom's face that came next. Her mom spun round to glare her down, shaking her head repeatedly at her.
"Well you have awful taste, look at you! You have to look presentable if you wanna get anywhere in life as a woman!" Her mom hissed back at her as she continued to glare at her. Meadow slowly lifted her head to meet her glare before letting a small sigh escape her lips.
"Well, I didn't pack any dresses.." Meadow mumbled back, her mom sighed in disappointment as she pulled her phone from her blazer pocket. She briefly scrolling through her contacts for a moment.
"I'll have to contact Diane and see if she can find something on such short notice. Why do you always gotta make trouble for me?" Her mom complained, eyes focused on her screen as she furiously typed away.
"I'm sorry.." Meadow apologised as she stared down blankly at her lap.
"Where's Declan? I need to make sure your colours don't clash." She asked as she continued to type away on her phone. Meadow felt her heart sink to her stomach, it was time to face the music and tell her mom.
"He's...not joining us. We..broke up.." Meadow said quietly. There was a silence as her mom stopped typing on her phone, turning her head to glance at her.
