Meadow's mouth fell open as a soft sigh fell from her lips, climbing into her bed without a second thought. She shivered as she got under the covers. Keegan chuckled, throwing her arms round her comfortably as she pulled her into a tight embrace. She was warm, she was always warm. Meadow locked her arms round her tightly as she lay her head against her chest, her heart beating loud in her ear. Keegan pulled one hand free to pull the covers tightly over them both. Meadow snuggled into her, already feeling herself warm up against Keegan's body heat. She tilted her head up to glance up at her, even with her hair tucked tightly under her bonnet she was beautiful.
"What?" Keegan chuckled as she looked back at her with a soft smile. Meadow proudly smiling back at her.
"I'm just taking in all your beauty." Meadow smiled back, Keegan leaned in to peck Meadow's lips. Meadow returned the kiss before burying her face into her chest, her eyelids heavy as she tried to fight back her exhaustion. She finally found herself drifting to sleep as she lay her head on Keegan's chest. Keegan ran her fingers through her hair softly as she watched her sleep before leaning in to her ear.
"I love you." She whispered softly before kissing her cheek. She leaned over to turn off the bedside light as she began to drift to sleep with Meadow in her arms.
"Meadow? Are you awake? Get up already will you!" Her mom sighed as she turned the handle of the bedroom door before opening it in a huff. She exhaled deeply as she stared at the pile of clothes on the floor beside Meadow's bed. She lifted her eyes from the floor towards Meadow's bed. Her eyes widened in horror as she stood in a stunned silence. Meadow nuzzled against Keegan's chest comfortably as they slept deeply in the bed. Her mom gripped at the handle of the bedroom door, her eyebrows narrowing together in a frown as she turned on her heels and closed the door behind her as she left.
Meadow yawned as she wondered down the stairs, Keegan happily following behind her as they walked into the kitchen. Tonya and Riley turned their heads to greet them with a smile. Riley grabbed two mugs of coffee as he approached them. Keegan happily took the warm mug in her hands, taking small sips as she waited for it to cool down. Riley leaned in towards Meadow's ear as he handed her the mug.
"Mom seems in a worse mood than usual so be careful." He whispered, Meadow sighing softly as she nodded back in agreement before taking the mug gently from his hands. She sipped at the hot coffee, turning her head towards the sound of heels echoing through the hall as her mom stood in the archway with her hands resting on her hips. Her eyes darted towards Meadow as she simply stared back at her.
"Meadow, come and help me with the table a moment." She ordered, Meadow placing her mug down on the counter as she followed her mom into the dining room. Her mom closed the door behind them as she then stormed towards her with a sharp glare, Meadow suddenly stepping back.
"What? What is your problem this morning?" Meadow snapped as she glared back at her, her mom gritted at her teeth for a moment before rubbing her temple between her fingers.
"It's 2pm Meadow, I tried to wake you this morning but you weren't listening." Her mom sighed in frustration as she wondered towards the table to adjust the centerpieces gently. Meadow's eyes dotted around in confusion as she then looked back at her mom in horror, her heart dropped to her stomach as her mouth fell open. The words were stuck in her throat as she searched for an excuse. Her mom looked back at her with that usual look of disgust Meadow had become all to familiar with.
"I...we..I.." Meadow stuttered as she continued to search for an excuse, taking a nervous step away from the table. Her lightly tapped her freshly painted French tips against the table as she waited for Meadow's excuse.
"Whatever perverted ideas this girl has you believing ends now. I will not have either of you ruining this dinner with your disgusting little phase." Her mom snapped as she darted a glare back towards her. Meadow was taken back by her comments, her blood boiling already as she gritted her teeth. She narrowed her brows in a frown as she stepped back towards the table.
"Perverted? We're both adults who are in a serious and loving relationship! You just can't see past your homophobia!" Meadow snapped back as her mom slammed her hand down on the table, Meadow watching the centerpieces wobble slightly from the impact.
"You're just doing this to get a rise out of me! You've always acted out for attention ever since you were young! Two women can't be in a relationship together, it's not rocket science! You don't have the parts!" Her mom hissed back as she rolled her eyes back at her. Meadow could feel her blood rising from every comment her mom spewed out her mouth.
"That was like 4 different types of ignorant! And you can't just say that shit cause you don't feel it yourself! I've never felt as happy as I am with Keegan!" Meadow hissed back. Her mom stood in a stunned horrified silence for a moment before storming back towards Meadow.
"You aren't gay! That girl has put that idea in your head and you decided to bring it here to get back at me like you always do! You're just pissed off that Declan chose Nicole over you! Why can't you be more like her?" Her mom hissed, Meadow's mouth fell open for a moment as she tried to catch herself from her just hearing her mom compared her to Nicole yet again.
"This has nothing to do with Declan or Nicole! Me and Nicole aren't even friends! She's a horrible person and Declan was a horrible boyfriend! I brought Keegan here because she's my girlfriend and I love her but you don't want to get out your homophobic box because it's not good for your reputation!" Meadow snapped before suddenly being struck from the palm of her mom's hand as she slapped her across the face. Meadow stumbled for a moment before resting her hand against her cheek, staring back at her mom in silence.
"I will not have you ruining this for me! You and her are sitting as far apart from each other as possible during this dinner! I will not have you ruining yet another evening!" Her mom hissed back at her before storming out. Meadow held her cheek in silence as she stared down blankly at the floor.
