"Are you sure you can walk?"
"Yeah.." Meadow replied in a timid voice. They both approached her front door, standing under the bright porch light that created a bright circle around them. She was finally able to get a clear glimpse of the woman who saved her. She had umber coloured skin, deep brown eyes Meadow almost found herself lost in, there was a white fading scar on her left cheek. Her lips weren't painted in any particular colour but were still beautiful and plump. She wore a septum ring in her nose and her hair was neatly tied back in dreads with shaven sides. She was standing in a lose fitting plain green shirt that was tucked into her torn skinny jeans with black timberland boots. She stood almost confidently with her hands slid inside her jean pockets. Meadow found herself amazed by the way she seemed completely unfazed by what just happened. She quickly snapped back to reality as the woman handed her tote bag back over to her. Meadow took it from her, throwing it over her shoulder as she pulled off the leather jacket draped around her shoulders.
"Keep it, I have a spare at home." She insisted as she placed her hand gently over Meadow's, gesturing the jacket back towards her. Meadow held it to her chest with a weak smile.
"Thank you.." Meadow replied in her timid nervous voice. The woman let out a soft chuckle as she nodded back towards her before turning away and walking towards the street and back into the shadows of the dimly lit street lights.
"From now on, avoid all alleys." She insisted with a soft chuckle to try and lightn the mood. Meadow nervously chuckled back at her with a nod.
"Y..Yeah, I've learnt my lesson.." Meadow replied nervously, brushing lose strands from her face. She waved her hand in the air towards her, Meadow waving back at her as she then watched her disappear into the shadows.
Meadow rustled beneath her covers as the sun cracked through her curtains. There was a beaming rainbow onto her bedroom wall from the window chime hanging from her window. There was a light knock on the door before it creaked open a jar.
"You awake?" Her roommate whispered, watching Meadow toss and turn under her covers. A small sigh escaped her lips as she quietly closed the door behind her as she left. Meadow waited to hear the click of her door closing before emerging from under the covers. She pushed herself up in the bed, pulling her knees to her chest. Visions of last night coming back to her in flashes like a poorly edited music video. She turned her head to see the leather jacket tossed over her desk chair, barely hanging onto it from how it was thrown when she got home last night. She climbed from her bed one step at a time as she then grabbed the jacket from the chair, her fingers feeling across the rips and holes in certain parts. You could tell it was well loved, she turned it to read the label on the inside, it was faded but it was still readable. Keegan. Her name is Keegan. Keegan saved her life.
Meadow groaned, rubbing her temple as she rolled over in her bed to grab her phone that was vibrating loudly on her windowsill. She slid her thumb across the answer button before placing it to her ear.
"Hello?" She said in a horse voice, trying to wake her voice up as she rubbed her temple with the back of her hand.
"Where are you? Brooke said you didn't show up?" Nicole blurted down the phone. Meadow let out a light sigh as her eyes rolled up to glance at her ceiling.
"I have a fever so I called in sick." She lied as she threw her arm over her eyes.
"Are you sure? You're never off work." Nicole questioned as Meadow sat up in her bed with a groan.
"Are you my doctor? Can you take my temperature over the phone?" She snapped as she narrowed her brows together in a frown.
"No, I was just...worried." Nicole sighed.
"Don't, I'm fine. I'll be back at work tomorrow." Meadow hissed back at her as her eyes glanced over at the jacket sitting over her chair.
"Fine, call me if you need anything."
"Alright, bye." Meadow snapped before hanging up the call. She threw her phone down at her feet before throwing herself back onto her bed. She smacked her lips together in a tch, diving to her feet before throwing open her closet in search of something to wear. She threw on her long white flowy skirt along with a green flower printed crop top that exposed her shoulders and stomach. She then put on her brown sandals, her collection of necklaces, grabbing her tote bag and white wide brim sun, quickly grabbing her phone before hurrying out the house. She adjusted her hat on her head so it just about covers her face as she wonders round the streets. She clutches the straps of her tote bag tightly in her hand as she looked round at how busy all the stores and restaurants were. She took a few steps back, her eyes glancing down an alleyway between two restaurants. She held her bag close to her as she began to step away, her heel slipping on the edge of the pavement, she found herself losing her balance as she tried to catch herself as she felt herself fall back. She got ready to brace herself for the fall as she was suddenly caught before she fell. She looked over at the hand resting on her shoulder, turning her head to see Keegan standing behind her. She was dressed in a faded black band t-shirt with Metallica printed on it along with black denim shorts, worn out white converse that were no longer pure white but were now more grey than white. She adjusted the sunglasses resting on her nose as she helped Meadow back to her feet.
"I..I'm so sorry.." Meadow stuttered nervously as she stepped away from her slightly. Keegan slid her left hand into the small pocket on the front of her shorts, just about being able to slide her first 3 fingers inside it. She grabbed one arm of her sunglasses, sliding them up to sit them on the top of her head with a faint chuckle.
"Deja vu." She said with a chuckle.
"H..Huh?"
"Yet again I'm coming to your rescue." Keegan laughed as she rested her body weight on her hip, a smile creeping onto her face as she looked back at Meadow. Meadow was once again taken back by her. She didn't get a chance to see her smile last night after the alley situation. It suited her but she doesn't seem like the type to show it much. Her eyes danced across the tattoo sleeve that snaked round her left arm, it looks like it could tell a story by itself.
"I...I was just talking a walk to grab some air. I wasn't ready to go back into work after what happened.." Meadow mumbled, clutching her tote bag straps in her right hand, using her free hand to nervously tug at her skirt. Keegan took one step closer to her, Meadow could smell a faint scent of perfume on her shirt.
"Do you wanna take a walk through the park with me? You still seem a bit shaken by yourself." Keegan asked as Meadow lifted her head to look at the worried look on her face.
"That would be nice." She replied with a smile, watching that adorable smile creep onto Keegan's face again as she slid her sunglasses back down onto her nose.
"Lead the way bambi." Keegan chuckled as she gestured her towards the park. Meadow raised an eyebrow at her slightly in confusion.
"Bambi?" She asked.
"Yeah, you give off that vibe so that's what I'm gunna call you from now on." Keegan replied with a slight grin. Meadow raised her hand to cover her mouth as she chuckled back at her.
"Fine, it would be nice if you knew my actual name since I already know yours cause it was written on the inside of your jacket." Meadow chuckled, covering her mouth with her hand.
"I'd much rather call you bambi." Keegan chuckled as she adjusted her sunglasses on her nose. Meadow continued to chuckle as they walked side by side towards the park.
The shop door jingled with a ring as it was pushed open. Nicole let out a soft sigh as she closed the door behind her, adjusting the bottom of her sundress gently as she turned her head, she squinted a little as she tried to see who Meadow was with.
"What the?" She asked herself as she narrowed her brows together slightly. She grabbed her phone from her bag quickly, opening the camera as she holds it up to take a quick picture before she was too far away to notice.
