After a few negotiations it was decided that Rose would live with Natalie Martin and her daughter Lydia Martin. Lydia had always wanted a sister, and Rose was exactly what she'd wished for.
Natalie was happy to foster Rose since she was used to being a jeep with no real family. Rose was just as ecstatic to have a family, and for her best friend to become her sister.
Noah Stilinski would have loved for Rose to stay with him, but he knew that it wouldn't be right for him to foster Rose if his son had feelings for her and Natalie was more than happy to have another girl in the house.
The pack had a long summer to look forward to after a stressful year, and when they returned to Beacon Hills High after the summer they'd be seniors. Everyone was looking forward to the break, however, Rose still had a lot of catching up to do if she wanted to be a senior with her new friends.
Luckily, she had two of the smartest people that were more than willing to tutor her and help her with her summer school work, Stiles and Lydia.
At first it was slightly awkward, just the three of them hanging out in the library, or the Martin's living room with Stiles' old feelings for Lydia an unspoken conversation. Luckily for them, a few weeks into the summer break a cute boy started appearing in the library. It took some encouragement from Rose but Lydia finally spoke to him and learned that he'd moved over from the East Coast with his family and was going to be a senior at BHHS after the summer. He'd decided to get ahead of some reading at the library whilst he had nothing else to do, and soon the trio of friends studying together became a quartet.
The cute boys name was Milo, and it was clear that he had developed a crush on a certain strawberry blonde from all their studying together. Soon the four friends had helped Rose complete summer school early which allowed them to finally be free for the rest of summer.
A few members of the pack already had plans for a fun-packed summer, but a few of them decided to stay in town ready to protect it if anything were to happen... after all the town was a Beacon for the supernatural.
Theo and Liam had decided to take a road trip out of town, soon followed by Mason and Corey, all four of them were camping along the West Coast and taking a well deserved break.
Scott, Malia and Kira all decided to stay and were more than happy when Rose finished summer school early so that most of the pack would be able to hang out together all summer. Even Milo became an honorary member, although they didn't tell him about anything supernatural— not until Lydia was ready.
One week the group took a spontaneous trip to the desert to camp out under the stars, have bonfires and bond. Their town was still under the protection of Jordan Parrish, the Hellhound, and he was more than capable of handling a stray werewolf.
Sat around the bonfire one evening, the rest of the pack retreating to their tents, Stiles and Rose were sat together with a blanket covering their legs. Rose was roasting marshmallows on a stick over the fire as Stiles watched her. He'd never get over just how mesmerising she was considering she used to be his jeep, Roscoe.
"Hey... Rose, I never got to thank you..." he started, clearing his throat slightly — he was always nervous when he talked to her.
Rose looked up from her marshmallows and over at Stiles, his honey-brown eyes gazing at her ever so softly, "for what?"
"For just... sticking around. I mean, you're your own person now and you didn't have to stay. You could've gone anywhere." He said, they'd talked about this when they were first deciding where Rose should live, theoretically she didn't belong anywhere. She could've gone anywhere, but she decided to stay.
"Of course, Stiles." Rose smiled, her long brown hair blowing slightly in the cool evening breeze. The truth was Rose didn't want to go anywhere else, because no where else in the world had a Stiles Stilinski.
They'd never officially determined their relationship, and they'd only ever kissed once. Neither of them were really sure what they were doing, and Stiles didn't want to rush Rose into anything because she was still learning who she was and how to be human. One thing was clear, they were certainly more than just friends, and everyone could see it.
As the night got colder, Stiles wrapped another blanket around Rose's shoulders, "maybe we should head inside, we have a long day tomorrow."
For the last day of their spontaneous trip before heading home the next evening, they'd planned to go off-road racing. It was a popular activity for the kids of Beacon Hills during the summer break, yet the pack was always too busy dealing with the supernatural to let loose and have fun. This week was all about them being normal teenagers for once, even if it was just for a week.
"Goodnight, Rose." Stiles said.
"Goodnight, Stiles." Rose replied softly as she wrapped the blanket around herself and headed into her tent she was sharing with Lydia. Milo had just left their tent and Lydia was blushing profusely when Rose stepped inside.
"Someone's got a crush." Rose chimed, sitting down besides her best friend, and sister.
"I do not." Lydia replied, burying her head in her pillow.
"Why not? Milo is adorable. He clearly likes you." Rose said, snuggling down into her sleeping bag.
"Okay... he is cute... and maybe I do have a teeny, tiny crush on him." Lydia admitted, turning to face Rose.
Rose smiled, "I knew it!"
"Shhh!" Lydia whispered, but her face lit up with a smile.
"You should ask him out tomorrow, like on a date." Rose suggested, she was still new to the whole relationships and dating thing but she'd picked a lot up from the rom-coms she'd watched with Lydia, Malia and Kira on their girls nights.
"I can't..." Lydia sighed, staring up at the ceiling.
"Why not?" Rose asked.
"I just... I don't want to get hurt again."
Rose reached over and placed her hand on Lydia's arm to comfort her, "I can't pretend to understand your pain, Lyds... but I do know that you are the strongest girl I know, and you deserve someone who will make you happy. Milo seems to make you happy."
"He does..." Lydia admitted, a smile creeping up onto her face.
"Just think about it." Rose said, before turning off the light in their tent.
"I will... goodnight, Rose." Lydia said, closing her eyes and thinking about what she would do tomorrow.
"Goodnight, Lydia."
