'Chapter 14'

"Aunt Katrina?" Dria questioned, her curiosity evident.

The woman nodded and smiled lightly at her niece, "Child, why are you acting as if I'm a stranger to you?"

Dria hesitated, "Well, maybe it's because I never really met you, only heard about you. Wait, Uncle Jeremiah said for you to come here, Why?"

Aunt Katrina exchanged a glance with her son, Edrik, who hadn't stopped staring at Pierce since they arrived.

"We can't discuss that in front of him," Edrik said, gesturing toward Pierce, who responded with a sharp glare, though he seemed to be doing his best to hide his irritation.

"I agree, Pierce has to go," a voice chimed in. Dria turned to see Kane entering the living room, his arms crossed and his usual nonchalant expression in place.

Rolling her eyes at the tension hanging in the air, Dria walked away from the group to check on the boys.

With every passing second, Dria's concern for Marcelo grew. Her uncle visited occasionally to help Kane control his powers, but she didn't expect him to vanish again so soon, especially when she needed his guidance the most. Furthermore, she hadn't anticipated him sending his family to stay with them. Their house was already crowded, and now she had to figure out how to accommodate five more people without raising suspicion.

Make that six, now that Pierce knows, her subconscious chimed in.

Dria let out a heavy sigh as she opened the door to the twins' room. She gazed at the two sleeping boys, feeling a wave of exhaustion wash over her. If managing Marcelo's powers and keeping their true natures hidden was already this challenging, she dreaded to think about how it would be when Elliam developed his abilities.

One super-powered seven-year-old was a handful, but two? That was an understatement.

"Dria, you might want to come out here before your cousin kills your boyfriend," Kane muttered behind her. She closed the door and followed his voice to the living room.

The sound of heated chatter filled her ears as she approached the scene.

"You must be joking if you think you can beat me," Edrik challenged.

"I don't care about your eyes, pretty boy; they don't scare me," Pierce shot back.

Dria's patience wore thin as the tension in the room continued to escalate.

"Oh, but they should. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into," Edrik taunted.

"STOP IT," Dria snapped, her annoyance at the unfolding family reunion evident. "We need to work together and figure this out. Fighting won't help."

"I won't be working with a human, nonetheless, Pierce," Edrik grumbled before dramatically throwing himself off the couch.

Dria studied him for a moment before it all clicked. "You two have history, I assume."

Pierce sighed, exasperated. "History? More like this idiot holds stupid grudges. It's been two years; let it go."

"Whatever," Dria muttered, rolling her eyes.

"I don't necessarily care about your grudge and somewhat feud," Dria interjected, her frustration palpable. "What matters is why my uncle sent you here, and Pierce isn't going anywhere. He knows everything, much to my dislike."
