'Chapter 35'

As the first light of dawn broke through the thick mist cloaking the forest, the secluded cabin emerged like a beacon of tranquility amidst the wilderness. Shielded by a veil of magic, it stood as a solitary sanctuary in the heart of the untamed woods. From within, the faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the crisp morning air, promising warmth and comfort.
Stepping out onto the porch, Dria cradled a steaming mug of coffee in her hands, her gaze drawn to the ethereal dance of mist weaving through the towering trees. With each sip, she savored the soothing embrace of the cool breeze, feeling a sense of serenity settle over her soul.
Her mind drifted back to the months that had passed - seven months of constant waiting, anticipating the looming threat she couldn't shake. The memory of the dream, pinned vividly to her mind, sent a chill down her spine. She couldn't erase the image of her twin brothers' tear-stained faces, their silent plea haunting her thoughts.
The sound of the door opening pulled her from her reverie. She turned to meet Seraphine's violet eyes, lighter now as she smiled down at her. Seraphine too held a mug, sighing as she found a comfortable position beside Dria.
They sat in silence, but Dria's mind raced with thought and a burning desire to ask Seraphine questions. She was curious about their world, craving more than what her father and uncle could tell her.
Dria shifted her attention from the comforting warmth of her mug to the figure beside her. She marveled at Seraphine's cascading silver hair, arranged effortlessly in a tousled bun, framing a face that seemed to radiate with an ethereal glow. Her flawless complexion and enigmatic eyes held a captivating allure, shrouded in mystery. But it was her aura that truly mesmerized Dria - an intoxicating blend of confidence and latent danger.
As the quiet of the morning enveloped them, Seraphine's playful voice cut through the stillness. "Hey, did you know that staring is considered rude?" she remarked, a hint of amusement lacing her words.
Startled, Dria's gaze darted away from her mug, cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she realized she had been caught in the act. A soft laugh escaped Seraphine's lips, her smile warm and reassuring. "Relax, it's not the end of the world," she reassured Dria, her tone gentle.
Feeling a pang of guilt, Dria apologized sheepishly. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to stare," she admitted, her discomfort evident in her voice. "It's just... I'm used to being the one stared at."
Seraphine's eyebrows raised in curiosity, her eyes locking onto Dria's. "Is it because of your dad's past or the rumors about your family ties to the mafia?" she probed, her tone tinged with curiosity.
Caught off guard by Seraphine's insight, Dria's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you- Oh, right, Oracle," she muttered, realizing her slip-up. "So, does that mean you're all-seeing and all-knowing?" she added, a hint of skepticism coloring her words.
Seraphine's lips quirked in amusement, her gaze playful yet discerning. "Been reading too many fantasy books, have you?" she teased, her eyes glinting with mischief.
Dria cringed as she met Seraphine's eyes, "Is it that obvious?"
"Just a little bit," Seraphine replied with a chuckle.
"Well, an Oracle, in essence, is someone who possesses a connection to the divine or supernatural realms, gifted with the ability to perceive things beyond the ordinary senses," Seraphine began, her voice taking on a more serious tone. "We're not exactly 'all-seeing' or 'all-knowing' in the literal sense, but we do have a knack for uncovering hidden truths and foreseeing possible futures."
Seraphine paused, as if gathering her thoughts, before continuing, "As for my powers, they're quite diverse. I can sense energies, read auras, and occasionally glimpse fragments of the future through visions or dreams. But it's not as simple as flipping through a book or watching a movie. The insights I receive are often cryptic, symbolic, or open to interpretation."
"Can you sense auras in people?" Dria asked.
"Yes, I can," Seraphine paused, hesitation evident in her voice, "why do you ask?"
"When we arrived here yesterday, you seemed to see something around me. You lingered on me longer than everyone else and then you pulled my father to the side and something tells me it wasn't about the twins. What did you see when you saw me?" Dria asked her.
Seraphine shifted uncomfortably, her gaze flickering away briefly before returning to meet Dria's probing eyes. "It's true," she admitted reluctantly, "I do sense auras, but it's not something I often discuss." She took a deep breath, collecting her thoughts before continuing. "When I looked at you yesterday, I sensed a mixture of light and shadow, as if there were layers to your aura. It's not uncommon for people to have complexities within their energy field, but yours... yours was different."
Dria listened intently, her curiosity piqued by Seraphine's words. "Different how?" she pressed, her voice barely above a whisper.
Seraphine hesitated, choosing her words carefully. "There was a darkness, yes, but also a brightness as if you're caught between two opposing forces," she explained. "It's like looking at a stormy sky with a ray of sunlight breaking through the clouds-a paradox of light and shadow."
Dria absorbed this information, feeling a sense of unease settle in her stomach. "What does it mean?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.
"That," Seraphine replied gravely, "is something you will have to figure out, but what I do know is that it's going to be painful when you find out."
For a moment, Dria's eyes met Seraphine's, searching for answers, but she found nothing but uncertainty in the depths of the Oracle's gaze.
"Seems Marcelo is up, wanna go check on him?"
Dria gave her a nod, "yeah, sure."
