Both Husky and I had our baths, then diapered, then dressed, him by Bear and Panther, me by Wolf and Bull. There was no temper tantrum from Husky and therefore no spanking was needed, however, he was pouting the whole time, even though there was nothing he could do about it. When you have two giants like Bear and Panther hovering over you, you just accepted what they told you to do, or not do. You didn't want to know what they would do if you told them 'No.'
And now all of us were in my sitting area waiting for my dad to show up. He and Sam were in her lab when we finally woke up. Sam decided to stay there after she got the news. She was still trying to figure out what happened to us, but Dad wanted the news firsthand. And so, we waited, sorta. The moment we got put down on the couch together, we started talking. We found out that yes, I got his memories and yes, he got mine, but we were still ourselves.
But I also got something he didn't. I could see myself in the past. And that's going to take some explaining. So, I decided to wait for that until my dad got here, because that, was really weird.
My dad finally showed up and was ready to hear what was going on, but first we needed Sam to hear this too, so Dad set up a video chat with her so we wouldn't have to repeat what we knew. After that was done, Husky started. "So, Max and I did a Vulcan mind meld. I have his memories and he has mine. And we both not only have our own, but we have perfect recall too. And here's where you two brainiacs messed up. Only one person at a time can go back in time. Hey, Sam, do you remember the first Ghostbusters movie?"
"Um, yeah, I think so. The one with the stay-puff marshmallow man in it?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, that one. Do you remember what they were never supposed to do with their weapons?" Husky asked.
"Um... I think they were never to cross the streams....."
"Because bad things could happen." Husky finished for her. "And that's what happened here. Our streams got crossed, so make sure you don't do it again. Somehow. I don't know. Is anyone going to try to go back now? Did it even work? I mean, we're still here. Right? So how do we know if it worked? I thought we wouldn't be here. You know, poof we're gone."
I popped in then. "Sam, do not disconnect those chairs yet. You've kept them powered this whole time haven't you?"
"Yes I have. And ok, but why?" She asked.
"Because you need to trust me. E=mc2 doesn't apply to fractal space time. If you want a full explanation then stay on the line. It gets weird from here on out." I looked at everyone, and nobody got my joke or explanation, or whatever. "Ok. Here's the deal. Yes, it worked. We went back in time. I know this because me back then just woke up and was trying to get out of his crib when I woke up. I-he finally got out when I was in the bath. Thank you, Bear. Ok to make this a little less confusing, I am me and my past self is he or him, ok. My brain hurts enough already. But I can see him. He woke up got, out of he's crib and started to show Bear what he could do physically, not much. Then he was carried down and put in his highchair for breakfast. I got that far then I rewound it a little and he's just now being put in his highchair again. I've tried to fast forward it but that doesn't work. So, think of it like recording a show in real time. You can pause it. You can rewind it. And you can play it, but you can't fast forward it. And it looks like I can see more than he can. Bear, you ass."
"What did I do?" Bear asks.
"You just put a pill in his bottle. Yeah, there it is. A sleeping pill? Really? You think he's such a threat that you would dose him with a sleeping pill. At least you didn't try to kill him. He looks 1 maybe 2 years old. So you geniuses got that wrong too. I thought I was going to be about 8 or something. Oh well. What's done is done. So, anymore questions for me?"
"Yea, I got one." Sam starts. "Why keep the machine running? Do you think they help you connect with your past? And if so, then Husky, can you do the same? Wait. No. Dumb question. You would have told us if you could. And you didn't even know if you went back in time. Max, do you know if he went back?"
"Good questions, sis. I don't know. And I don't know. I've only seen and talked to Bear. Wait, he's only seen and talked to Bear I mean. Maybe when he wakes back up from the sleeping pill Bear gave him I'll know more." I stared at Bear.
"The only reason I would do something like that is if I thought he was a threat to you or your dad. Why are you trying to make me feel guilty about it? I didn't do that." Bear looked very disappointed in himself. Or was it, himself. Past him? Or current him? Ok, now my brain is starting to hurt.
"Soooooo, for now I have no new information. Keep the machine running. And I will try not to go Little on you all while we figure this all out, although right now would probably be the best time for that, seeing as my other self just passed out in his highchair, and the screen went blank because his eyes are closed. Joy. One less thing on my mind right now." I finished, then closed my eyes trying to wrap my own brain around what was going on, not just now, but also in the past. But was it really my past or an alternate universe thing going on? My brain just hurts now. I just wish I could take a nap like the other me is doing.
But I knew I couldn't sit here forever, so I opened my eyes and what I saw around me baffled me. I was sitting in a nursery, my back up against what could only be a crib. Max's crib. It had to be his. I tried to move around, but the only thing I could move was my arms. I reached up and tugged on his blanket trying to wake him, but he was completely out of it. I looked around to see if I could leave him a message somehow, but nothing was in reach. So, I decided to leave myself a message. I pulled as hard as I could on his blanket. I pulled it right out of his crib. I held onto it and closed my eyes trying to go back to my time. I thought about my bed, how soft it was, how my room looked, every detail I could remember about it. My head started to hurt, then I felt something shift. Yes. I felt my bed under me, but that wasn't the shift I'm talking about. Something in my mind shifted. I could actually feel a part of me shift and change. It was a really odd feeling.
Then I opened my eyes, and I was back in my room. I called out "Mama Bear? You out there?" My door flew open for the second time today and Bear come running in.
"What the hell was that? You were just on the couch. Then. Then you disappeared. Now you're in here. Can you teleport now too?" I held up a baby blanket that nobody here would have seen before.
"Take me back out there and I will explain the best I can." I was really really tired now, but I knew I had to try. He picked me up and I winced. My vision got a little blurry and I knew I was going to start crying soon. "Be gentle please. I hurt all over." He cradled me so I wouldn't hurt so bad. He also walked slowly so he wouldn't move me around by accident. When we got out there everyone erupted with questions. All I could do was wait until they were done. I grabbed on to Bear and asked for a bottle. I was so very thirsty. A bottle appeared in moments. Yaa, banana flavored. I took a couple swigs then sorta pushed it away. I don't even know how he felt it, but Bear moved the bottle.
"I'm going to explain this once, then I'm going to pass out, so pay attention. Not teleportation. Time travel. This blanket came from Max's nursery. Do what ever tests you can think of on it. Make sure it's from our universe and timeline. Now Bear, I hate to ask, but can you just hold me for a while? I really don't want to move. I really really hurt and I think I might pass out very soon." The blanket was taken away and a bear was put in it's place along with a blanket to cover us up with. The bottle was put back in my mouth and I was grateful for it.
Before I finally passed out moments later, I heard my dad say, "This is Max's old baby blanket. I thought we had lost it somewhere. He was one and a half and he cried about it for days. There for a while he thought that a monster came and took it. Remember that, Bear? He wouldn't sleep in his crib unless one of us would check his room out for monsters first." And then my world went dark and blissfully pain free.
